Trying to stay in a Happy Place
That was an overall embarrassing effort by the Leafs in a game that really mattered and in their own barn. Lost almost every single puck battle in both ends. Could not counter the Panther's break out plays allowing the Panthers to enter the Leaf's end with speed and puck control. Just a complete shit show by the Leafs.

In my opinion it is pretty clear - if the Panthers are on their A game the Leafs are no match for them - the last two games have shown that big time.

Not only is Matthews not scoring but it was his turnover to Barkov that eventually lead to the first goal by Ekblad. Florida is a fine tuned machine right now. Whenever a Leaf has the puck there is no time and space and no one is open to pass to. Florida, on the other hand, are making short passes very easily to move the puck up. There's always someone open and their dump ins have intent with a plan.

I don't necessarily agree Leafs have more talent. There's a salary cap. All teams have the same amount of money to spend. Florida has 3 solid lines. Leafs have 5 forwards to make up the top 2 lines and a revolving winger for Tavares Nylander. Max P wasn't even a starter for the playoffs. The Laughton line doesn't score. The 3rd line should be better but McMann has 1 assist in 11 games. Florida in 10 games have 8 players with 8 or more pts. Toronto in 11 games have 3 players with 8 or more pts.

No kidding Einstein. How do you propose to get players into the playoffs without them playing in the regular season. The player has to be in the organization under contract by the trade deadline to qualify for the playoffs. If you want to sign a superstar for 15 million and have him play in the minors until the playoffs he has to clear waivers. The player also has to agree. If you want him to feign injury for the whole season and just play in the playoffs the player also has to agree. This sounds like the reincarnation of someone who doesn't watch basketball.

Every player on Florida played in the regular season. Every player on the Leafs played in the regular season.
They don't have any players they just plopped into the playoffs out of nowhere. Besides Matt Murray and if you think that's an advantage then good for you cause yeah he really upgrades the team. Makes them a juggernaught. Gives them more talent than any other team in the league.

If there is no cap in the playoffs then why did Leafs bring in sub 1 million dollar player Robertson.
Shouldn't they have brought in a 100 million dollar superstar instead.

Things were going really well for the Leafs until they had a 3-1 lead in game three and then the truck went off the cliff.

They blew the two goal lead and Woll allowed a softie in losing ot.
Game four they took four penalties that led to the Panthers winning goal. Taking too many bad penalties finally caught up.
Game five was a total disappointment.
That leads us to game 6 and we’ll need a miracle just to force a game 7.

The Panthers have planted the seed of doubt in their head that they’re going to be hit hard if they want to make plays. They’ve been targeting Tanev and they hit him hard every time he touches the puck and that is wearing him down as the series continues.

I don’t know what’s Matthews’ excuse this year for not producing offensively. You don’t get paid 14mil for just playing well defensively, especially when your team is losing. He didn’t produce in the four nation cup either. He has become a perimeter player looking for a one timer and even Nylander has attacked the goal mouth much more frequently.

Just a reminder that Mitch Marner refused to waive his NTC to play for a team that is now 4 wins away from playing in the Stanley Cup final.
