Any recommendations for hotels that allow you to pay by cash without a credit card? I don't mind motels but not seedy crack hotels Can be any part of the GTA

I have used "Canadas Best Value Inn - Richmond Hill" its safe and clean

Go on hotels.com, write in your date and location and verify what is necessary to check in for each one.

I know it's long, but hotels change their policy quite often.

Any decent hotel will not check people in without a CC as a rule. Both for a security deposit, and a room service hold. I did see a few able to use a large cash security deposit/hold in lieu of one.

It also weeds out scammers.

My suggestion is, if you can, just start a second financial relationship with a second bank. Seperate from your spouse(I'm assuming this is the reason). A few thousand in an account, different addresses for paperwork(postal box). And an attached credit card. Online banking makes all this easy.

What about when you get to the hotel they normally want a CC for security

Hilton, Courtyards and Hampton Inn, which are very respectable, offers the options to pay cash or debit in some of their establishments. But you have to look them up.

Don't go to just any hotel.

Most hotels will not allow you to use a prepaid visa gift card .

I know some monte carlos allow people to pay cash but you will have to call the hotels to verify .

I know lots of hotels dont accept cash anymore.

Since most Hotels are operated on a Franchise basis, I think that depends on who the Franchisee is.

There is a Quality Inn at Winston Churchill/QEW that was a place that a lot of ladies, and even Discreet Dolls Escort Agency, used frequently. You might be familiar with it.

I guess whomever owns that Hotel doesn't want SPs using it anymore, as the Security Deposit for cash paying guests is $500. I'm certain it didn't use to be this way.

Quality Inn and Suites – Hotel in Oakville, ON (choicehotels.com)

My point here to @kous is that Hotel policies can change. @kous, you are probably better off getting a Credit Card at a Different Bank; just ensure you have the Credit Card picked up in the Branch and turn off all the Paper Statements; and hopefully the SO doesn't have access to your Credit Report.

Hell, even if you opened a Chequing Account at another Bank, you may get a Pre-Approval for a Credit Card on the spot as a "welcome offer."

Nope, they also want identity verification. Its just the way it is. Recently I opned a new account at a bank, and with a 6 grand deposit got a free premium card. If ypu can arrange for your mail to go to your workplace it solves issues. Or a post box.

Probably any hotel will let you settle your final bill with cash. However almost all of them will require a CC for a security deposit and place a hold on your card for 500 or something like that. I’m not sure if that will show up on a statement or not, never checked tbh.

It won't show up on a Statement; but would show up as a "Pending Transaction" for several days on Online Banking, before dropping off. Anyone who saw that Pending Transaction would be able to deduce the CC was swiped at a Hotel.

Yes Ive heard of that hotel. It used to be a good place that was very friendly with SP's unfortunately over the years that has gone down .

However I've always used a credit card and never had any issues & It is usually a deposit of between 100-250$.

Important note for those considering a 2nd bank account and separate credit card: Your mailing address.

You're almost guaranteed to receive something account related in the mail at some point. Even if the spouse doesn't open your mail they could see official mail (not just a flyer) addressed to you "about your account" that they know nothing about. To be extra discreet you can get a P.O. Box as your mailing address. Yes it's an extra cost every month but they're not expensive and you can always get gifts for your spouse delivered there instead so they don't arrive at home. A good excuse in case they ever discover that you own a P.O. Box ;)

This is correct. Gotta have a cc in case you trash the place. They'll hold a depo on your card until after you've checked out. I've seen the charge on my online account, but after you pay it vanishes. Thus paying in cash etc would be visible to whomever has access to the online. But it won't be in the statement posted to your house.
