Yes it is a very stressful environment...I feel lucky I landed a decent apartment for under $1500, but I live across the bridge in Oakland. $3000 on rent to live in the city felt like rape. And honestly, SF as a city isn't my favorite. It's too congested, it's too cold and foggy.

It's absolutely a dog eat dog culture here in the Bay. San Francisco is becoming a mono culture, driving out anyone making less then $100 000 a year. People are overworked and under slept, all banking on being the next big thing and getting rich overnight. Though how many will has yet to be...

I was just in Palm Springs and had a blast! Hiking in Idywylld (I saw a bobcat!) shopping on El Paseo, art openings (a lot of very high brow work) got silly doing karaoke in Joshua Tree, met some dusty and very friendly locals, relaxed under the stars in hot tubs in Desert Hot Springs.... There...

We did "secret santa" style this year, i.e buying for one person in the family and thats it. A lot less stress, indeed. My mother made every gift she gave me this year, I'm really grateful! A gorgeous new sweater, slippers, and a coat for my dog.
