I am a developer for enterprise applications and do see some nice things with the dev tools (expression blend is cool)...I dont like the 100/yr "fee to play" but can live with it. As a phone - who knows ;)

It also depends on who you work for and where you work. I am in the midwest US and make a bit over 40k (US) a year, work 60+ hours/week, NO vacation***. BUT, I also am a part owner (over 10% but less than 40%). My gamble is that the extra work up front will pay off down the road. The "average"...
