Great OT goal by Mitch. Happy for him and for us. We could have easily lost this one.
Just put on the Swiss Finn game. Bit of a surprise. Gotta mute it though, two women on the play call is ridiculous.
Later its US and Sweden. Gotta favor the Americans in this one, Sweden hasn't been that impressive so far.

That is ridiculous. I think it's fair to give some opportunities to women in sports announcing. However, I doubt two women are the best choice to announce a men's hockey game.

If you watch the replay of the Czech goal that put them ahead 3-2, they very obviously had 6 skaters on the ice in their own zone before breaking out on the rush. What a stink there would have been if they held on to win

Imagine the scandal if Canada had lost?

The 6 players even regroup to celebrate!! I mean, at that point, they should have realized it!. Wow...

That game started while the Canadian game was going on … I’m sure all the A team was on the Canada game plus a few other resources who normally do the secondary game — either requested or by request.

they probably had limited resources. No need to get upset or call it ridiculous.

Good point, but that doesn't make it entertaining.

Ridiculous is one of those expressive adjectives that goes a lot of ways.

Sweden just tied it up 1-1 in the dying minute 😲

USA wins it in overtime. So we play Finland next

Canada's 3 best forwards when loaded up is the triple Mac line.

If you look closely during the breakaway, it was actually 8 on the ice lol

I just finished watching all 4 games. A few comments/observations.

1)US/Sweden was played at the highest pace. And neither Matthews nor Nylander were terribly impactful.

2)I thought that Switzerland/Finland was the best played game. Very intense for 60 minutes. Players had to fight for every inch of ice. Who'd have thought that the Swiss were that good of a team as they are not a traditional hockey power.

3)I was going to make a post about Marner but decided to hold off until the end of the game. I was going to talk about how invisible he's been. It was a nice goal at a clutch time, but I still think that he's been one of our weakest players.

4)I think the female announcers distracted from my enjoyment. TBH, they're just not the voices that we are used to hearing in big games. This was just the wrong place for us to be exposed to something so new and different.

5)As well, I'm liking Mike Johnson more and more as time goes on. He's as knowledgeable as Craig Simpson, has a better sense of humour and does not giggle at inappropriate times like Simpson does which I find annoying. His voice is getting more expressive as he gains experience and confidence. I think CBC made a good decision by not choosing Simpson. I think that MJ and Cuthbert work well together.

I noticed that Celebrini is the next superstar of the NHL (3 pts vs Czechia WOW), and Beddard is a bust.

Everybody is raving about the new NHL celebrinity. Can he maintain it over a long span or is he a flash in the pan?

I wouldn't count Bedard out yet. He's got skill and seems to be a solid worker. The organization may be what's holding him back by not affording him a good set of teammates. He is not the next Alexandre Daigle.

In both cases, we need to see what happens over the next few years.

Calling Bedard a bust is laughable. You obviously haven't watched Blackhawks games. Their team is pitiful yet Bedard is still eating. He's got 53 points in 44 games played and is only a minus 2 rating. The 2nd and 3rd leading scorers have 42 and 30 points respectively. And both are in double digit minus ratings.

The star of the games?

The absolute majestic beauty of the sites for these games.

Historic Cortina d'Ampezzo and Bormio nestled amongst the snow capped Dolomites provides absolutely breathtaking vistas and panoramic views that just takes your breath away and transports you to another world not of which we ordinarily exist in.

You may never be able to beat the beauty of the Dolomites. Those might be the most beautiful mountains in the world.

And kudos to the camera men and cinematographers for their incredible work of bringing the majesty of the Dolomites and it's regions to us everyday for almost two weeks now.

Seriously, I am in awe and just amazed at the vistas, scenic panoramas and majestic beauty that is brought to me daily, just by watching the games coverage.

This is what the Winter Olympics should be: Cortina, Bormio, Albertville, Lake Placid, Squaw Valley, St. Moritz, Innsbruck, Lillehammer, Grenoble, Chamonix .....
