Ted Williams hit 29 Home Runs in his final season, a record which stood for 25 years. Since then, five other players have hit 29 or more homers in their last Big League season.

a) The current record holder is a member of the Hall of Fame who was released in the off season after six seasons with his first Major League team.

b) Number two on the list hit a career-high 35 HRs in his last season. His brother is an active Major Leaguer and is a former Rookie of the Year.

maurice93 correctly identified Kyle Seager.

c) Number three on the list hit 29 or more Home Runs in a season for four different teams. He had 30 or more HRs in each of his last three seasons.

maurice93 correctly identified Dave Kingman.

d) Number four on the list, tied with Williams at 29, played for Team USA in the Olympic Games.

e) Number five, also with 29, is nominally a former Toronto Blue Jay. He was traded to Toronto and traded from Toronto in one four day span during a January.

Name as many as you can.

Three to go.

I'm pretty confident in these two

b) Kyle Seager
c) Dave Kingman. I initially thought c) was Nelson Cruz, then I thought about Dave Kingman and that is the only clue that would fit him in.

A guess
d) Pete Incaviglia. But he probably never hit 29 after Texas, as was never a full timer after that but the Team USA thing led me that way.

Can't think of a) and I'm thinking that should be the easiest one.

Great question for baseball fans.

I was intrigued by this question and those I missed (a,d,e) I decided to research for the answers I did not get based on clues (looked at List of HOF and players on a well known Team USA) for the answers I could not get, but will not post them here as they obviously do not count per the rules. I'll just say I was disappointed.

I did think of the player in e) as I was running through Jays transactions by year before getting to that actual year. That is a tough one. Some interesting names, some really bad players , as I ran through Jays historical transactions of January.

Kyle Seager and Dave Kingman are correct!

Pete Incaviglia hit 0 homers in his last season, (1998), so Nope.

He was also a terrible fielder - .966 lifetime fielding percentage; 63 errors vs 68 assists, and he only played outfield.

I would agree that e) is a tough one.

From the pre-expansion era, there are probably a lot of players who had 29 or more homers in their next-to-last season, since just about everyone was on one year contracts for their entire career.

In his last Major League plate appearance, he hit his only Home Run as a Blue Jay, and partially dislocated his shoulder in the process.

What's his name?

Stump.

Name this three-time Olympic medallist, (2X Gold).

(and yes, the clue pics are all relevant).
Steve Timmons.

Timmons won Olympic Gold Medals in indoor Volleyball at the 1984 and 1988 Summer Olympics, and Silver in 1992. He was known for his 'signature' flat top hair cut.

Who am I?

I hit a Home Run in my first Major League at bat.

I was runner-up for Rookie of the Year, and I was named to the mid-season All Star Game in my third season.

I played my first six seasons for one team, but I played for six different teams in 2023 - 2025.

My salary for 2025 was less than what I was paid for my first full season.

My OPS of .136 as a Toronto Blue Jay in 44 At Bats might be an all-time record low in the Majors for a non-pitcher with that many Plate Appearances.

Answered correctly by tml.

Correct, (DeJong).

Obvious typo rule in effect.

What do MLB players Buddy Kennedy and Jose Urena have in common (looking for a specific answer).
At some point during the 2025 MLB regular season, both players briefly played with both the Blue Jays and the Dodgers. Neither player was on neither teams playoff roster.

One Canadian former Toronto Blue Jay hit a home run in his first Major League at bat, and another hit a home run in his last Major League at bat. Both players have been inducted into the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame.

a) The first player has three World Series championship rings as a coach, with two different teams. The same man managed both teams.

Trevor Wong correctly identified Dave McKay.

b) The second player made his Major League pitching debut in his final big league season. He pitched in 4 games, completed four innings, and allowed no runs and no walks, while striking out two batters and allowing two hits.

Name either or both.
