Israel has never signed the NPT so there is no reason they cannot acquire nukes. Iran is an NPT signatory. They would have to abrogate the NPT before building nukes legally.

The USA knew. They pulled people out of diplomatic missions and military bases before the attack. And Israel knows they will need US support for retaliatory strikes coming.

The world knows Russia has nukes and Putin can use it. Why
not take advantage of a weapon your enemies are in fear of.

For good measure Israel would better attempt to destroy
Iran's nuclear weapons first with conventional weapons.Threats
of nuclear attack could diminish support from the U.S. But
if Israel fails to penetrate Iran's nuclear sites I won't be surprised
