They offered them a peace agreement 3x, and one of the reason for he war is Ukrainian nationalists attacking the Russian minority in Donbas. So its like Egypt invading to protect their fellow Arabs. Not only that they continued to provide them with gas until recently when Ukraine shut off the pipeline.
