That was trippy as fuck even without acid.
You've got to think there were people involved with the production of that cartoon who'd taken LSD -- the some of the visuals, especially in the opening credits, are bang-on the sorts visuals you get on an acid trip. The episode came out in 1968, the same year LSD became illegal in the US, and lots of creatives were certainly experimenting with it before then.

Their lack of subtlety is quite surprising, they didn't even try and hide it. It was a pretty accurate depiction of an acid trip as far as I'm concerned. I'm racking my mind trying to figure out if I watched that episode as a kid because it definitely had some familiarity to it.
I remember the Pink Panther cartoon was on TV late afternoon Saturdays (where I grew up) when I was a young kid in the early 1980s. I always liked the cartoon for its weirdness, but this is actually the episode that stood out for me most. I had no idea about acid at the time, lol.

In retrospect, I even remember some of the Sesame Street stuff being trippy. I remember them singing a song in one segment and visiting a pharmacist and someone says, "Are you one of those pill-pushin' mamas?" lol

The creators of the 60's Spiderman cartoon started out making Rocket Robin Hood first. I'll never forget the stoned out sphinx.
