From Deepseek. List of US states who get their juice from Canada

Several U.S. states receive electricity from Canada, primarily through cross-border transmission lines. The exact number can vary depending on specific agreements and infrastructure developments, but generally, the following states are known to import electricity from Canada:
  1. New York
  2. Vermont
  3. New Hampshire
  4. Maine
  5. Massachusetts
  6. Michigan
  7. Minnesota
  8. North Dakota
  9. Montana
  10. Washington
These states import electricity from Canadian provinces such as Quebec, Ontario, Manitoba, and British Columbia. The electricity is often generated from hydroelectric power, which is abundant in Canada.

The exact number of states can fluctuate based on market conditions, infrastructure changes, and energy demands, but the list above represents the primary states involved in cross-border electricity trade with Canada.

The LCBO’s decision to pull American liquor from its shelves is yet another example of government incompetence at its finest. The liquor has already been purchased, meaning taxpayers have already footed the bill. Instead of recouping that money by selling the stock to consumers, the LCBO is choosing to take a financial loss—wasting public funds in the process. If they truly wanted to make a statement, they could have stopped future purchases while selling off the existing inventory. But instead, this is nothing more than a hollow gesture that accomplishes nothing except hurting Ontario consumers and their own bottom line. This is what happens when a government-run monopoly prioritizes virtue-signaling over basic business sense.

The product is in storage. So no loss. The loss is directly to the manufacturers who lose future sales. Once this is resolved the product goes back on the shelves. But the US manufacturers don't get those "inbetween" sales back.

And they may lose a few customers, especially on wine.

I guess Butler 1000 and I were writing our posts at the same time...

Whatever alcoholic beverages people buy from non-American sources until this trade war is resolved will never be bought from American wineries and distilleries.

When the trade war is over the American products in storage will be put back on the shelves, but won't be replenished until such time as that inventory runs down to the normal point of requiring replenishment.

The sales in the interim will be mostly lost to the American producers forever...

Trump commerce chief says he will meet Canada and China halfway on trade tariffs.
So 12.5% on everything, instead of 25%.

I say fuck that, keep the pressure on them and bring it back to zero

Tell him its his choice, he can drop it to 12.5 but we stick with 25% until their cave or get booted out of office and put an massive export tax on oil.

Interesting news is that China has banned imports of US Lumber in retaliation. We should offer them our lumber and also discuss LNG with them...and deployment of Huawei 5.5G.
China is the future

Trump in Tues State of Union says the current tariffs are just the start and the golden king and dictator will match any retaliation. He has always believed in "great, great tariffs" with his false claim foreign countries pay it to the US. As some say, if you "believe it," it isn't a lie. Or, if you lie enough times and have zillions of supporters spreading it it becomes the truth in some immature minds that have no interest in truth, or science vs what they think.

Yet he may change his mind based on who he talked to -often Putin, who is basking in the Trump policies and admiration of dictators.
