I find the whole pandemic both tragic and comedic.

It revealed which members of the population would:

1. Use logic when faced with decisions and hold their position

2. Kneel and support slavery if their leaders told them to, support Nazism if their leaders told them to, support genocide if their leaders told them to.

It turns out, unsurprisingly, that the majority populace are brainless followers, and that makes them dangerous peons.

They tell themselves that they're the good people and would have fought Hitler if they had been alive in 1939, but the pandemic demonstrated that they would have gleefully participated in horrifying war crimes because they were told to, they were scared not to, and it was the popular thing to do at the time. All weak cowards for whom I have no respect.

Look.
The people who went nuts with the anti-vaxx bullshit and the weird plandemic/scamdemic nonsense were fucked, sure, but painting them all as slaves who would gladly commit war crimes seems excessive.

if Covid's mortality would have been like Ebola you would have walked over people to get the shot.

I agree. I think it was very difficult time where leaders and our people were trying to figure out the best course of action against a rapidly advancing, unknown virus. Citizenry that were the most vulnerable needed to be protected.

However, I do think there were overreactions coming from various sides. That is hardly any reason to not see the dangers of COVID to certain segments of society. It's also not reasonable for people to think you can create a risk-free environment.

Everything they said about covid, the vaccines and the mandates contradicted their argument in favor of.

With covid or from covid. How many were old and in poor health to begin with.
Yes, true.

Obesity was also a factor. There was also some degree of randomness to why a fiftysomething with some extra weight would be struck down instead of their chubby friend.

Mr. Fauci thought he'll have a monument to stand on...
I'm not convinced Fauci comported himself well during the crisis. Some of this is probably my bias because of things we have heard and his quick lionization by the media in 2020.

And they deserved to die? How crazy is that? My dad has Diabetes. He was high risk. He's 83. Yet he walks 5 km per day and does yoga. In better shape then average 40 year old American.

Fauci was a horrible communicator. He always tried to use scientific logic in a role where your average listener has no logic whatsoever. He tried to stay polite the whole time when people around him did not make any sense at all. They should never put scientific researchers in such roles. They simply suck. The average Joe is too dumb to get it.

Dr. Fauci has already many awards, he was one of the great scientific researchers the country has never had. He didn't need a statue...

Yet how many died in the US?
This is something I hear quite often from my liberal American friends. Sort of an advanced argument for Medicare for all and even more government control over certain societal aspects.

The reality is the U.S. death rate is in line with many European countries.

Canada's success is actually an outlier. It could be many factors including how fast the virus was introduced into Canada, features of Canadian urbanization and other cultural factors.

Certainly some political decisions could have helped in the U.S. but likely not have significantly ameliorated conditions.
