The US really does need to raise taxes. Sales tax is the way to go. Tariffs are a way of introducing a PST without saying he is added a federal sales tax.
They could also just remove all those tax loopholes that large corporations and billionaires use.
Get in a lot more money. Avoid retaliatory tariffs. Fairer for your own non-wealthy citizens.
He's trying to force business back into America without putting the blame on businesses. A bit similar to illegal workers on Farms and such.

I don’t think he really thought this through. I get the impression he is proud of the Tariff policies against China that he introduced and Biden administration kept or expanded, and he is thinking it worked great for China now let’s do again.
