The US really does need to raise taxes. Sales tax is the way to go. Tariffs are a way of introducing a PST without saying he is added a federal sales tax.
They could also just remove all those tax loopholes that large corporations and billionaires use.

Get in a lot more money. Avoid retaliatory tariffs. Fairer for your own non-wealthy citizens.

He's trying to force business back into America without putting the blame on businesses. A bit similar to illegal workers on Farms and such.

Honestly, it's a stupid play because it forces your allies to forge new relationships and be less dependant on America.

I'd hate to cut a deal with China but hey business is just business.

He has to abide by NAFTA until it expires. NAFTA has arbitration clauses that are mandatory.

Beneath all the rhetoric, Canada and Mexico are just going to go get an injunction against him. Every asshole thing he does is silly and illegal and he's just going to get sued over and over and over again.

I don’t think he really thought this through. I get the impression he is proud of the Tariff policies against China that he introduced and Biden administration kept or expanded, and he is thinking it worked great for China now let’s do again. Plus it gets him the media attention that he carves and that’s why he is running with it so aggressively; all these other world leaders triggered like a vegan activist at rib fest. He stumbles onto valid topics but in the dumbest ways.

It's part of Project 2025 and his far right backers push it and he dgaf cos he's playing golf and he loves the attention.

It's been analyzed. He doesn't have the authority without Congress authorizing him. He's bound by existing trade treaties. And tariffs - at least to any sane degree - cannot replace the amount of $$$ generated by income tax.

It's all half-assed incompetence, packaged with a lot of strut and farting. And it will end in nasty injunctions against his senile old ass, as has happened twice already in the 10 days he's been PooTus.

This will further engrave Trudeau's legacy as the WOAT PM.

Dude has been sitting on his ass and snowboarding for 2 month while Canada faces tariff threats.
Yeah!

Trudeau should have gone to Washington and...... err, done what exactly???

Give the same empty phony bologna speeches he's been doing for 10 years?

Should have stepped down and gave the position to Freeland.

I'd even say it's all Mexico's fault for Trump because they refuse to secure their order shared with the US.
Buckle up kids, Here we go.

This is what happens when you bullshit around for 10 years. 🙁

I am glad Canada will be forced to diversify its trading partners. WWII was a long time ago. Its time to leave the US behind.

Don't let Trump fool you. There's the TV personality Trump and there's the businessman Trump.

He knows he has major leverage and will use it. Hopefully it is just a bunch of hot air like last time and only small changes occur.

Regardless, we got to get our shit together.

Wait til the old fucktard learns that adult diapers are made in Canada and he's going to have to pay 25% more to avoid his loose turds and urine running down his pant leg!

Yes let’s start doing things on our own and taking care of ourselves. We can have trading partners all over the world if Trump doesn’t wanna be our friend and fuck him let’s alienate them like the world dead to the Russians.

That is the reason it was so stupid of Canada to antagonize China, instead of developing trade with China. Canada did it to please USA. See how it helped us.

Some of you are wishful thinking.

USA doesn't need our oil, lumber, gas or anything else. They can survive without it. Canada will perish if it cannot trade with our neighbor south of the border. We basically have most of our eggs in 1 basket. Get your heads out of your ass and start breathing fresh air, please and thank you.

When did USA ever abide by the law, international or domestic? When USA needs something done, they find a way. They'll twist information whichever way they see fit. Now, that Canada is getting on the wrong end of the equation, you may actually see things for what they actually are.

Please what this for an additional perspective:
