It's one thing for Chow to limit the number of rideshare vehicles because they think it contributes to congestion, but it's not her job to be concerned with how much drivers make an hour.

Regarding congestion, a statement provided to CTV Toronto on Tuesday, Uber Canada says, “the number of rideshare drivers on the road is 15% lower than pre-pandemic levels. Only a third of licenced drivers complete a trip on a given day. The City staff report itself says that rideshare only accounts for 4.5% of total traffic citywide.” “The City has spent this year extensively looking at the root causes of traffic in the city and not once was Uber mentioned.”

Uber is a great, affordable alternative to the unreliable TTC. Especially for women who want a safer door-to-door option if they're working late night shift work. Plus the more availability and the lower cost to passengers, the more likely people will choose it over drinking and driving, which is a good thing. It works well, I say don't mess with it.

I travel to Mississauga for business a couple of times a year. I can tell you if Uber wasn’t available it would be a toss up between a cab and taking my rental car if I wanted to go downtown. At no time would I ever consider the TTC.

There was supposed to be a decision today on PTC licenses and a cap on them.
It is also a bad idea at this time because of the way the economy is.
A lot of people may be relying on Uber temporarily for some income.
I also use Uber a lot for work commuting around downtown, to Markham and Brampton.
This BS will only add more pressure to cost of living.
Why do they always have to throw a wrench into everything and fuck it up?

It's one thing for Doug Fraud to pretend he is actually addressing GTA wide motor vehicle caused congestion, crawl and gridlock with faux legislation, but it's not his job, lane or knitting to be concerned with purely and wholly local neighborhood decisions.

Being Toronto's self-proclaimed, "greatest, most adept, experienced and knowledgeable cyclist extraordinaire and kindergarten bike lane monitor", dem motor vehicles can do no wrong in yer heart.

80 fuckin thousand licensed rideshare less than minimum wage serfs are not enough!

Why do they always have to throw a wrench into everything and fuck it up?
but in another thread you claimed
The government aka public sector is what keeps those people fed and healthy.
They are also the ones who help us have a good quality of life - free healthcare, roads, infrastructure and so on.
but now you are whining about the "so on "
Why do they (The government aka public sector) always have to throw a wrench into everything and fuck it up?
i guess you are OK with big govt creeping intrusion into other citizens lives
but not so much when it impacts you

Oh the hypocrisy

Oh the hypocrisy
Nice spin.
Criticizing the government for making policy mistakes is a different statement than saying that the public sector ensures quality of life.
They are both true.
By the way you claimed the private sector funds the public sector.
In 2008, who bailed out and funded your beloved private sector firms?
The public sector did.
Oh the hypocrisy.

Nice spin.
Purposefully cherry picking colloquial words to misrepresent what I said in an entirely different discussion.
Stop putting words in my mouth.

Stop cherry picking words in one post to misrepresent what I said in an entirely different discussion.
its not my fault you can not keep track of your hypocritical positions
there is absolutely no cherry picking and absolutely no misrepresentation as these are your words letter for letter

The government aka public sector is what keeps those people fed and healthy.
They are also the ones who help us have a good quality of life - free healthcare, roads, infrastructure and so on.
and again absolutely no cherry picking and absolutely no misrepresentation as these are your words letter for letter
why do they always have to throw a wrench into everything and fuck it up?

I am always okay with government intruding into citizens lives.
We need the government to provide services that ensure our quality of life.
Does not mean the government always makes the right decisions.
Those need to be criticized.
This is not controversial. Just common sense.
But to take what I said casually in one post to misinterpret another post in an entirely different discussion and thread is dishonest.
You are cherry picking words to do so.
Stop putting words in my mouth.

Unfortunately, we can expect more brainless ideas from Chow.
If you hadn't noticed, Chow is a Commie. The more she can control the free market by taking people's money and controlling what they can or can't do, the more it flows with her ideology.
So far, she's renamed a park...grabbed more money from people by raising taxes...and....and....dressed up for a parade.....and....and..............nothing.

That is bullshit.
Nobody is always wrong or always right.
The government ensures we have a good quality of life by providing services.
But they also on occasions make stupid decisions (and what is stupid is debatable per your politics).
These are not mutually exclusive.
So according to you the private sector funds the public sector.
Who bailed out your beloved private sector in 2008?
What would have happened to the private sector without the public sector in 2008 when the entire world was suffering and CEOs were taking home millions?
