So would Trump have been right if he had said TARGETED tariffs? I ask this because Biden hit China with additional 25% tariff on imported steel. And Canada just followed suit. We are importers of steel and these tariffs have destroyed our business in both US and Canada. I hate Trump, by the way.
First, I should say, I am not in favour of most tariffs. But nearly every country, even they ones who espouse free trade (like the US) impose them. And they are targeted. Canada, for example, ferociously protects its dairy industry. That's why it is so expensive for milk and butter compared to the US...and, we don't allow it (for the most part) to be imported. Is this a good policy? I'm sure our dairy farmers approve.

But, let's remember, Trump said he'd put tariffs on every import, which would pass on the cost of things to the consumer. That is a major problem because it is basically a new consumption tax that will make everything more expensive. Economists say it will hurt the US economy as well as Canada's. And, why wouldn't China or other countries impose retaliatory tariffs on US made goods? Now, there is a very good chance that he will not do anything. Remember all the promises he made in 2016 that never came to fruition. He might have "concepts" of plans, but lacks the ability to get them through congress.

Not true according to science. Global carbon emission has to be halved
by 2030 from the level somewhere in the 2010s or the point of no return
in climate change will be breached (if it has not been already). Beyond that
point of no return no emission reduction could avert impending climate
catastrophe. Every little bit won't make any difference.

I know what I said above about science is BS. But that is what science or what
science according to the adult advocates of Greta Thunberg told us. I assume
most leaders of our time other than Trump have brought into the BS and I have
to go along with them and their supporters to avoid being called climate denier.
Well, I guess you got your wish in a president who don't care about the future. I guess we'll see how the climate improves under Trump...

Trump is threatening tariffs as leverage for other things like curbing the illegal import of drugs into the US.
A comedian says something and everyone immediately associates it to Trump and the media loses their shit.
Biden says it directly and crickets.

The leftwing nuts at SNL even made fun of him when he tried to open the door of the truck because he attempted to grab the handle a couple of times...nothing really funny about that...happens to everyone. That's how biased and desperate they are.

btw where is "stepped aside" Biden these days?
LOL

Well, I guess we'll see how the stable genius is for another four years. Buckle up, because the law of unintended consequences are going to bite a lot of MAGA supporters in the ass. We'll see many new additions to the leopard ate my face party...

And they will eat what they want, smoke what they want and make their own life choices.
They'll be allowed to eat whatever walmart sells, smoke whatever the tobacco industry offers them and make their own life choices as long as they use amazon and starlink, who won't ever spy on them and report them.

Just as I called it.

Holocaust Harris lost because she chose to back Israel's genocide against the wish of voters, with 80% of dems backing ceasefire.
She lost backing Netanyahu while he actively worked to get trump elected.

Most idiotic presidential campaign ever.

It was still far too close.

But we can now say that traditional media is on its last leg.
its its a good thing. We are far better off with social networks to get information. Everyone there is factually right and impartial.

Trump put tariffs on Canada, and has threatened to do so on all imports from Canada. Anyone living in Canada who supports such threats is mind boggling!!
Trump had several bankruptcies where his investors, contractors and employees had to pay the price for it. So did the students from his Scam University. Trump inherited the wealth from his father. You should not be in denial about the businesses that collapsed under his watch!!
All successful people have business successes and failures. Fact is, he's doing pretty good which is the point you keep missing.
Trump is doing the best he can for his country. Trudeau does the best he can for himself.

Yeah sure...you'll need some new material for this term. The doom/gloom tactics didn't work. Lawfare didn't work. The race card didn't work.
Let him govern and judge him by his accomplishments and failures and not by words you just don't like to hear and someone's appearance you can't tolerate.

Traditional media is talking about a "gender gap" and "education gap" and changes in voting demographic - youth, Hispanics, and Blacks turning out for Trump.... less than stellar female turnout for Harris.

But they're also missing the fact that the only reason Harris had any chance at all is because of traditional media's propaganda.

The results of this election are very much the result of the divergence between the electorate that watches traditional media versus the growing number that consume media online.

Those that watch traditional media think that Trump is a Nazi and can't fathom how he got elected. They live in a bubble. Wild media narratives have radicalized their voters.

Voters that consume social media and observe grassroots movements are on the pulse of culture and saw this outcome from a mile away.

If Harris was smart, she would have rejected being anointed as the Democratic nominee for president.

Being an instrumental part of a failed incumbent administration and running as Biden 2.0 was a setup for an unsurprising loss. She put herself in an impossible position and was too stupid to realize it.

Her hunger for power, her unchallenged opportunity at a direct run for president, and her arrogance in believing she could easily defeat Trump with the media's backing, is why she failed miserably.

im betting the weekly (daily?) Hamas parades in cities across America did not help the Dems. I’m not sure leaning even further into the Hamas demo would have been a winning strategy.
Youth, minorities and Muslims all had issues voting for someone actively aiding genocide.
She knew it and made her choice, even while Netanyahu worked against her campaign.
That was idiotic politically, and she will now be remembered as Holocaust Harris.

I put a lot less blame on Harris personally. Yes she is a terrible candidate, but none of this was explicitly her doing. She is just another cog in the DNC-Legacy Media machine.

I partially agree. While mainstream media is susceptible to more influence from shareholders, social media can be quite the wild west.

I think both need to be considered and kept honest by considering all sources of truth and lies.
