Friend of mine had her electric Jaguar stolen out of her driveway about a month ago...The car was found with all of the electrical components removed...Hadn't heard of that before.

She is going to a wheel boot now.

I want to know what Doug Ford has to say about this.
And I want to know what that corrupt greed f*ck is going to do.
And I want honest direct answer’s without any of his diversion or digression bullshit.

There was a long standing rumor that the reason why the John Rhodes Driver Examination Center in Brampton shut down was because the examiners were caught taking bribes and they somehow managed to keep it out of the media.

Basically, if the examiner came into your car and found an envelope with $300 on it, you went out, drove around for 10, 15 minutes and passed your exam.

I remember seeing a story in the Star about a woman who was charged after she offered an examiner there a $20 after she failed her road test. My guess is that they were angry that she was $280 short.

Many of the Service Ontario locations are franchises I believe, not necessarily gov’t employees … doesn’t make it any better though.

Manual transmission will stop a lot of young theives who just need a car for a robbery or some other criminal activity. Even many adults have no idea how to drive one. Determined thieves will get you car if they want it. All they need is a flat bed tow truck.

Typical Canadian response, the government can't solve all your problems
There are tons of ways to be proactive to protect your property but just out of curiosity what do you think Ford should do?

Damn name some names and post some mug shots

One of the good and bad things about Ontario is that the police never provide mugshots (unless the person escapes custody), and are not required to release names. There can be good reasons for this, such as that its an ongoing investigation and they are trying to find other suspects, and if the arrested people were named, they would go to ground.

But, contrast that with a place like Florida....where they will name and release mugshots of everyone who is arrested (well, unless you got a ton of money/influence like Patriots owner Robert Kraft). This can be bad because not everyone who is arrested is guilty....and falsely arrested people could have their lives ruined because of malicious prosecution or incompetent investigators...

Let's face facts: auto theft has become a major problem. But, part of the responsibility is on car manufacturers. They made systems that thieves could easily exploit on vehicles, even high-end ones. And the cops don't seem to care too much, which is weird. I mean, I've read stories about people who put things like AirTags in the car and knew the vehicle was at a warehouse...yet the police did nothing...

I expect Doug or our government to do little or nothing other than pass the buck.
I want an honest answer from Doug for once.
Ministry of transportation is provincial.
If he wanted to he could help the OPP find and and target those individuals working for the M.O.T. and employ tactics to trace them back to the criminals they are working with.
Nahhhh, too much work and Doug and his buddies don’t profit from such work.
I don’t have power or resources to do such things. All I can do is install security cameras outsides my home and help protect my own and my neighborhood.

Did I ask the govt to solve all my problems?
No, I did not.

Guess you’re part of the brainwashed collective of Ford Nation. Across the border I believe the equivalent is Maga?

Been saying for quite a while.
We need harsher punishments for criminals, and the justice system needs to change.
But yes money protects the white collar criminal, and our justice system does not do enough to punish.

This might be the only real deterrent.

Can't steal a car that won't start.

The thing is when the government makes tougher laws, People complain!!!

And unfortunately in politics, it's not the best plan that wins office. It's the most votes.

Ya you literally did on your first post
And no I'm not a fan of Ford nor I any kind of Maga in fact I've been accused of being a lefty many times here. What I'm saying is, instead of always blaming and looking to the government to solve your problems fix them your self, don't drive high target cars, use disabling devices, install a tracker, install motion sensor lights. The provincial government at that level has very little to do with theft that's up to the police and the citizens to protect them selves

Great.
Please be sure re-read my entire post, and not be selective as many do these days to fit their needs and drive their thoughts and ideas.

What I am saying is Ford needs to be (and most likely won’t happen unless Ford is backed into a corner, and his estate and family are on the line, literally/figuratively, even then still) held accountable and asked the hard questions that most in the media do not do.
Please, again, note I said MOST, not all.

That's the entire problem. 100% lack of accountability. Until that changes nothing will.
Agreed 100%.
That’s what I’ve been saying for decades.
Action needs to happen, now!
Writing, talking, and creating media about these issues to make ppl aware or deter them from their socials (LMAO)is not enough.
Mofos like him need to have their day in court, and more.
Reckoning needs to come for these types one day.
