He got it right. So did Aretha Franklin, albeit a different era.
Aretha definetly changed her style later in her career...........she started as a female romantic "crooner".....joined Atlantic Records where she became a Soul Singing superstar..and then this style...pop/disco.......but one thing always remained..her great voice...

I love it. That's dedication. Growing up my favorite radio station was WBLK 93.7 also stationed in Buffalo. Toronto didn't have a 24/7 station dedicated to black music. All we had was Saturday afternoon rap/hip hop on CKLN 88.1 from 1-4 courtesy of DJ Ron Nelson.
im not sure of the actual time line..or even the radio station....but i remember a segment , late at night featuring a DJ named Glenn Watters..known as "Big G", who played alot of Soul and R&B....and the late Don Daynard on his Saturday night show had a pretty good sampling of that type of music
