I can tell you when I was 15, I was out roaming the streets at midnight. It was a different time back then, I just wasn't dumb enough get on the roof of a speeding train.
I guess your parents weren't as strict as mine. Also I grew up in the burbs.

I honestly feel bad for the kid. He is a fucking idiot, but we all did stupid shit at that age (though, I didn't do anything THAT stupid). As for the picture of the Indian train....Do you guys know how many people die due to trains every year over there?

According to data from the National Crime Records Bureau of India, 2021 saw a total of 16,431 deaths and 1,852 cases of injuries from railway accidents. The majority (67.7 percent) of these were from people falling from trains or from collisions with people on the tracks (12,181 out of 17,993).

That's is an insane number of people. That's like 45 people every day! Most from falling off the train.

Now, I've wondered why it's like that. Does the government not care? They have 1.4 billion people, so maybe they have so many they are a little less careful with life. I mean, their roads are apparently free-for-alls where you just honk and make whatever turn or lane change you desire....

I grew up in North York, and most of the kids in my complex were allowed out pretty late so I guess it was fairly normal. When we like 14 and 15, we used to take the subway down to Maple Leaf Gardens to watch wrestling, and we would take the subway back at like midnight. It was just the way it was back then. Not for all parents but many were okay. Much of it depended on where your parents were originally from and what the norm was there.

Just curious why you are angry, it was a case of very bad judgement with life altering consequences. Some young people understand inherent dangers and others seek it out and always think that bad things only happen to other people.

Angry due to the obvious and avoidable risks they willingly ignored, neglecting their responsibility to loved ones now suffering the consequences of their reckless pursuit of excitement.

Yes, but you were smart enough not to ride home on the roof.

Trains have always been something not to be screwed about with. I had a cousin and his friends playing and jumping between cars parked in a yard, years ago. He slipped on the jump and slammed face first into the roof of the next car, knocking out 6 teeth. I also had a young part- time guy on my work shift miss going out with 2 buddies partying. His dad told him, no way, you`re working tonight. The other 2 kids got smoked by a train at a crossing, while out driving around late that night.

To be honest, was actually 11 as well. I just searched one of the matches I saw at the gardens and it was in 1985. I was 11, taking the subway home at night with my buddies from the Gardens at like 11pm...lol. I mean when I was in grade 8 I used to down to the Ex all the time to watch jays games, then hang out in the parking lot trying to get autographs until 11pm.
