La Grande Illusion (1937) by Jean Renoir, Clip: Boëldieu is shot by Rauffenstein
French aristocrat de Boeldieu creates diversion so that others can escape. He is shot by German aristocrat von Rauffenstein. World War I changed the social order in many ways.

A Few Good Men - Courtroom scene.
See post #98. One of the best scenes in film history. Both Nicholson and Cruise are in a zone.

William Wyler's best film The Best Years of our Lives.

It's such a great film it would be an injustice to pick one scene. Harold Russell lost his hands during WWII, those are not prosthetics he's wearing. It came out in 1946 and it's still in the 8/10 territory. William Wyler also served during WWII.

Barton MacLane was a stuntman and actor, he got his ass kicked in both The Best Years of our Lives and The Treasure of the Sierra Madre.

And he didn't make another movie until 1980, Inside Moves. It's a hidden gem. With John Savage and David Morse.

Charlie Chaplin - City Lights ending

Charlie had "borrowed" money from a friend and went to prison to pay for an operation to bring eyesight to a blind girl he loved from afar.
He returns after his release years later and sees her in a store window. This is the moment she realizes he was the anonymous donor.
