But the appeal has to be complete by Jan 5, last day to register for the vote.

No big deal. Trump's lawyers will just appeal this ruling to the SCOTUS, for final clarification. Just like if Trump won this appeal, the Colorado lawyers, would have appealed this ruling to the SCOTUS, as well!!
