Yes. They used to play the national anthem and then the station would go off the air after 2pm.

Or the station was off air due to technical difficulties.

Bob McCown used to reminisce about how movie theatres used to play the national anthen after the LAST movie of the day. He said patrons would try to anticipate the end of the movie so they could quickly grab their coats and get out of the theatre before the anthem started.
