Who am I?

I was a three-time All American, the first Division I NCAA running back to rush for 4,000 yards in a College career, and the last Ivy Leaguer to lead NCAA Division I in rushing yards for a season.

I don't have a Super Bowl ring, but I did play in two Super Bowl games during my six year NFL career.

I am perhaps better known as an actor, with numerous film and television credits spanning six different decades, including five seasons in the ensemble cast of a TV show which won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding show in its genre more than once while I was a cast member.

Ed Marinaro

Four skaters scored 15 or fewer regular season goals during their NHL career, and their uniform number has been officially retired by the last team for which they played.

Name as many as you can.

If you are the first to name all four correctly, AND you can identify which of the four played for more than one NHL team, you'll get something special.

tml correctly identified Bill Masterton, (# 19; Minnesota North Stars/ Dallas Stars. 4 career NHL regular season goals, including the first in franchise history, October 11, 1967).

K Douglas correctly identified Barry Ashbee, (#4, Philadelphia Flyers, 15 career goals), Keith Magnusson, (#3, Chicago Blackhawks, 14 career goals), Willie O'Ree, (#22, Boston Bruins, 4 career goals), and Michel Briere, (#21, Pittsburgh Penguins, 12 career goals).

I'll guess one is Bill Masterton who played for the Minnesota North Stars and tragically died as a result of an on ice check.

One Correct!

tml is still eligible to receive something special, if he can be the first to answer the remaining parts of the question.

Four players who were selected from the Toronto Maple Leafs' organization in the 1967 NHL Expansion Draft were later reacquired, and played for the Leafs at a later date.

Name as many as you can.

Two of these players did not play for the Leafs at the NHL level prior to the Expansion Draft, but they are not complete unknowns. Photographs of at least two of these players have appeared in this thread, in the 'What's his name?' category.

Stump.

Which player selected from the Toronto Maple Leafs' organization in the 1967 NHL Expansion Draft was part of the 1966-67 Stanley Cup Champions team, but never played a regular season game for the Leafs?

Which two players who played for the 1977 Toronto Blue Jays had the highest salaries?*

*One of the two was not part of the opening day roster. His salary as a Blue Jay is almost exactly equal to the full season salary for the other player.

I'll guess Bill Singer is one of them.

In the 1963 Canadian federal election, Red Kelly was re-elected as a Member of Parliament(even though he was still playing in the NHL). What soon to be famous Canadian did he defeat to be re-elected.

Answered correctly by onomatopoeia.

Nope.

Bill Singer is not two players.

There's actually 4 others besides Masterton. All played with only one team in their NHL career.

Barry Ashbee PHI
Keith Magnuson CHI
Willie O'Ree BOS
Michel Briere PIT

Four Correct!

I missed Willie O'Ree and Keith Magnusson, but you missed one, too.

"All played with only one team in their NHL career".

Nope.

Barry Ashbee played 14 games for the Boston Bruins in 1965-66.

Nobody got: Bob Gassoff, (#3, St Louis Blues).

Gassoff was a goon who died on Memorial Day Weekend in 1977 in a motorcycle accident on Gary Unger's farm.

I remember this guy from the Stanley Cup Quarterfinals series against the Habs, a few weeks before he died. I think he spent more time in the penalty box than on the ice. Whenever he was skating, he'd just keep slamming into opposition players until he got a penalty.

Check out his career penalty minutes, by season:

gasoff.png

What stands out for me is the 152 penalty minutes in 17 post season games in Junior hockey, 1972-73. He was a teammate of Lanny McDonald when they were both Medicine Hat Tigers.

There was a guy in the Quebec Major Junior League named Marc-Andre Roy who made Gassoff look like a Quaker:

marc-andre roy pim.png

1,085 penalty minutes over two seasons, with six points scored!

He may have topped that feat with 117 PIMs in six,(!), games in 2004-05 as a pro, albeit in the Southern Professional Hockey League, in the Asheville Aces' only season in the league.

I remember hearing about Gassoff but never saw him play.
This Marc Andre Roy guy I've never heard of. Wow those PIM are completely off the charts. I've never seen someone with more than 600 PIM in a season.
