If you meet someone and its not clear if they are a masculine woman, tranny or transexual you are an asshole if you refuse to politely call them what they want to be called and demand to know what they have in their pants/skirt/tights/dress.
I work regularly with people who fall in that category and I just refer to them by the pronouns they prefer and don't demand that they tell me what's in their underwear or state that I will only call them 'dude'.
Its not that hard or that big a deal.
