To them, Jimmy was great because he riched the White House. What happened after, didn't matter one damned thing.
I'm not sure what you are alluding to with "riched the White House". I presume you mean enriched, but I'm not sure of the details.

Carter wasn't a great President, but he suffered from the perception that he wasn't a strong leader in a time of domestic and international struggles. I think some of which was unavoidable and beyond his control.

Well, according to my Twitter feed, you all will have to put the champagne back in the fridge- no indictment this week.

Of course. But judgements are harsh at that level. After all, nobody put a gun to his head and made him run.

Are you going to go down this path of trying to mock other members who disagree with and challenge you? Surely, you have more than that in your arsenal. One would hope you have your wits and some understanding of the laws involved in this case.

I asked you how it would go down. I have my opinion. I can come here and present that. You can tell me how the NY DA is going to win this case. Even if you want to believe Cohen was prosecuted for the Daniels pay-off (you don't really), the NY DA will have to make the leap to apply state laws on what is essentially a federal election matter. If this makes it to trial, it will be a giant turd laid by the DA which will be good only for some headlines.

Have you considered the possibility that when you mock other members that you might easily be proven fucking wrong when everything is resolved? Immodesty is not being wrong. We're all wrong at times. Immodesty isn't being able to see the possibility of being wrong.
You are going on and on but where have I said 1) that he will be charged and 2) that he would be found guilty? Show me, where I said this.

I said, Butterball claimed he will be charged and I said I hope he was right. That doesn't mean he will or that I believe it will stick, so again, you want me to explain how the case would go down from a prosecution POV when I haven't given you an opinion on charges let alone, I've never claimed to be a lawyer, now have I?

Avenatti was given a lot of time on liberal media. It was an embarrassing chapter for liberals and the media so it made sense to put it behind them as quickly as possible.

Per Wikipedia "Avenatti was a frequent guest on talk shows and cable news programs to discuss the cases, logging 108 CNN and MSNBC appearances between March 7 and May 10, 2018."
Avenatti lost his gloss pretty quickly. There were allegations of domestic violence and IIRC a previous Law Society investigation. So the more aware people started to back away. He was basically a con man and he had a brief run and speedy fall from grace.

But then, he didn't have the GOP to run interference for him. Unlike Trump.

Jc, this is the Trump getting arrested thread.

Shouldn't you go start the 40th or 50th Hunter Biden's laptop thread and stop deflecting in this one?
He's not getting arrested this week, so you can relax. Turned out that the star lawyer witness, as suspected, is a sleazy, post, grifter.

We all knew Cohen was a grifter. He co-grifted with Trump, after all. Peas in a pod, etc. We'll see what happens with the indictment. The NY DA knows perfectly well that Cohen is a slime-bucket. But then most "criminal organization" state witnesses are just that.

So far, the only person saying that Trump will be arrested is Trump. The rest of us are just enjoying the thought and the reaction from the Trumptards.

So, let me get this straight, are you saying that MAGA patriots can store their "Hang <insert libtard DA du jour here>" signs alongside their horned helmets, fur pieces, feces, camo, flak jackets and sub machine guns for this week?

Inquisitive insurrections would like to know.

Man, it's been satisfying watching them foam at the mouth on media and feeling the anger through their posts in here. AHHHHHHHHH

Now if they would only bring back the mask and vaccine mandates so I can sit back and take it all in with a big smile from ear to ear.

Good one squeeze. You had me going. I really thought a few of you really believed Trump was getting arrested.

Oh yeah right. Some of these guys were just screwing around.

I couldn't help notice your silence on a specific legal matter like this. You have never been one to hold back especially when it came to the law.

Would you like a blue jersey with a donkey on it? Perhaps we could put the name Roosevelt or Kennedy on the back. Wait, wait, I know you want Obama on the back.
WTF???? Can I have that brand of glue you are sniffing? Sounds like you are tripping balls....

I said that I don't care, and you accuse me of taking a side. Maybe read my comments instead of being a dick.....deal???

oh ffs… Carter was not a great president. He was merely decent.

Nixon ran the economy into the ground, killed off the Gold Standard in ‘71… printed money line it was WW1 Germany…. got voted out… and Carter was the guy in office when the tsunami finally hit. The tsunami was coming. Someone had to be in office.
c'mon poker you're clearly smarter than this post. The whole Republican Presidents bad, Democratic Presidents good is silly stuff.

At the risk of being didactic here, let me correct or challenge a few of your assumptions.

1) President's don't print money. President Nixon could not even spend money without the help of the Democratic-controlled Congress.
2) Nixon was elected in 1968 and reelected in 1972. He resigned in 1974. Carter won a close election against Nixon's successor in 1976.
3) Almost every American economics professor teaches the catalyst for the U.S. eliminating the gold standard was the simultaneous spending on the Vietnam War and the expansion of social spending started under Johnson. The ensuing and related trade deficits and the Europeans unwillingness to hold Dollars were the final straw.
4) To really criticize going off the gold standard, one would have to provide a fairly rigorous and thoughtful economic argument defending the gold standard.

Let's not get into this all too convenient revisionist history.
