The problem there was is wasn't an intervention. It was a murder.
Another attack this morning. This time at Dundas Station. I hate taking the subway/bses because you are sitting/standing in very close quarters with strangers who might do you harm.

TTC Special Constables don't have guns (there are 100 constables covering the entire TTC network 24/7). The TTC is hiring 55 more amidst this spate of violence.

Any weapon intended for your own protection will probably be outlawed, like in the US.
The problem is that when the Special Constables actually do their jobs, the woke left media jumps all over them and makes the TTC constables out to be jack booted thugs lynching the poor misunderstood victim. Instantly, words like racism, poverty, victim, institutional racism, bigotry, discrimination, systemic racism start getting thrown around like smarties at halloween. This results in 2 things. First, the politicians start wringing their hands together and start making phone calls to the TTC senior leadership boys and girls and come down hard on them for having a group of out of control power tripping thugs out there abusing the misunderstood victims who poverty has forced them to lash out (you and I would call them criminals or thugs or scumbags, but you know, that's just hate speech.) The second thing that happens is that the senior leadership at the TTC then call in the heads of TTC security division and berate and humiliate the heads of security and threaten to fire them for having a bunch of out of control Dirty Harrys working for them. Those guys then go on to assemble the rank and file and tell them in no uncertain terms that from this day forward they are not to engage with the thugs, criminals and dirt bags (my words), and that their job is only to observe and to call the police if there is an incident (because the guys in charge of security don't want to be berated by the Senior Leadership team and the Senior Leadership team don't want to be humiliated by politicians and the politicians don't like anything negative to be said about them in the media. The second thing that happens is that men and women who are employed as special constables to protect the law abiding public get discouraged and frankly fearful for their jobs and so they back off and just phone it in. And who can blame them.
What needs to be done when the woke leftist media publishes one of these stories is that the politicians need to tell them to fuck off (nicely of course), that the TTC constables are doing their job and they have their support. But they won't do that because that will only get the woke leftist media even more worked up and they will finally have a sexy story to work with like their American counterparts get all the time. So they will run with this story for months.
And if you think I'm crazy, this very thing has happened before with the TTC security. I recall it from maybe 15 years ago, or 10 years ago where the TTC busted some fucking asshole and the asshole was beatified by the media. In fact, it happened a couple of times in quick succession.
Surely you know that it's all about criminal rights in Canada and not about protecting the greater public from the criminals.
Here's a prime example of what happened just in 2021 when two special constables actually got fired.

They thought about giving TTC Special Constables real guns but its a bad idea because if they do have to shoot someone stray bullets will very likely take out a few innocent subway riders.
I dont know if TTC gives their constables tasers, but if not they should get them, and preferably the strongest voltage possible

Woke judges giving out slaps.
Woke drama teacher stepping up immigration when nobody can afford food let alone rent. Recession coming. Lost jobs. Desperation and mental health will continue to increase through lower economic class.
This will get alot worse before it gets better.
Sad part is that sane responsible people will have a more difficult time arming themselves for defensive purposes because in the drama teachers "liberal land", only criminals will have the guns.

Stuff like this in society is a reflection of those who you call leaders. If you have weak and authoritative people running your country it will slowly slip into chaos.
That's certainly an important consideration.
Fortunately the current incidents involve knives and syringes only.
Hopefully we don't get a mass shooter on the TTC.

One container of Oleoresin Capsicum (OC) foam with appropriate carrying case. One expandable baton with appropriate carrying case. One approved memo book. One flashlight with appropriate carrying case. One Provincial Offences Notice book and appropriate hard cover. One TTC Special Constable Service Policies, Procedures and Rules Manual. Naloxone with carrying case
It started as an intervention, ended in a murder and he likely prevented a murder.
