Captain America #28 is very clearly drawing the link, not as "Peterson is a nazi" but that "aimless young men are easily radicalizable". This is Coates writing after all. He has Rogers mention that he found the flag, the cop he is talking to found the badge, but the gangs in the story found the Skull. Since Coates is far from saying that the Flag and the Badge can't be corrupted or twisted into something dangerous, it would be a mistake to think he is saying anything as simple as "Peterson is a Nazi".
That Peterson is going to try and make money on this is a given - Peterson has said on more than one occasion that figuring out a way to monetize outrage was his big break - but this isn't Peterson trying to stay relevant by reading something into this that isn't there.
What he has said is that he has'' figured out a way to monetize social justice warriors'' and that's an exact quote. It's also important to note that he was laughing as he said it at how surreal his life had become.
But he never said it was his big break........If you can show me where he said that I'm all ears.

Like I said, that he was going to try and make money off this was a given. That doesn't change that basketcase is wrong to think he invented the connection in order to make money off it.

He claims his original intent on using patreon was just to raise enough funds to produce better quality videos. As a matter of fact he didn't even know about patreon before he started putting out content for free. He mentions this all in his interview with Joe Rogan 3 years ago.
His daughter Mikhaila is running his business at present and it was her decision to sell merch based on the Red Skull controversy.
As for Basketcase......Well his knowledge of JP is myopic. Reliant on left wing hit pieces.
Like you say, he and his daughter developed their business plan based on what they discovered about monetizing this. I'm not even saying it is wrong, I am just saying that we all agree that is his business plan.
