Everyone is doing it. All British commonwealth countries, Australia, New Zealand. They are after the funeral which made no sense to me and they are expecting all business and schools closed.

It won't be a day off for most people in Ontario. Thanks to DoFo a guy who only shows up to Queen's Park 1/5 of the year.
IMO it should be a holiday for ALL or NONE!! You cant have just a ''select few'' because they work for the Feds getting special treatment.
I am fine with having a day dedicated to memorial of the queen. But
please no holiday. I am not against the monarchy but we already have
too many public holidays.

This is just a small example of why the country is divided. Trudeau should have met with the provincial leaders and come to a consensus on creating a holiday. It would be fairly simple to send out an email blast or have an on line meeting with everyone to discuss.
Instead he gives a gift to the federal workers. So much for a leader of the people.
I am sure there are many people who would love the day off and could not give two shits about the queen. My guess is this would be in the high majority.
This also sets a precedent or expectation for future situations.
LeGault specifically rejected giving Quebec the day off because he was already getting shit for flying the flag at half mast.

Sept. 5th off- Labour Day
Sept. 19th off- Queen Elizabeth’s funeral
Sept. 30th off- National Day of Truth and Reconciliation
Oct. 10th- Thanksgiving Day
4 paid days off in a span of 35 days. Nice work if you can get it.

Wow I just realized September has 3 holidays now. Too bad they couldn't put it in November.
So the federal employees, who work at the passport office, and who have a huge backlog of work, get a day off?
