Being from Quebec, I think Quebec is the most secular province in Canada.

Religion and/or politics in schools is simply indoctrination. There is no place for itand it's wrong. Nothing controversial about this decision.
Yet this is a defining feature of the conservatives you support in the US.

Pride is political or religious?

Seems the religious ones are the ones freaking out that someone might admit they are gay.

Why are we not surprised? Teachers using inflation as an excuse to make outrageous wage demands and holding our kids hostage. Clearly, their agenda is to feather their nest even more. So, do teachers really give a damn about our kids?
CUPE Ontario education workers to take strike vote in September (msn.com)
Why do righties always envy others without knowing anything about their jobs? If the job is that cushy and has such a great wage, what are you waiting for, go to university, go to a teacher's college and fill that bank account, no need to envy others?

At the top end, a teacher in Ontario can make what, just under 100K. WOW, my god, such a high outrageous wage.

Education in the US has become super political. The right are terrified about kids learning about America's true history. They much prefer the white washed version where the founding fathers were all pure men. They want to ignore inconvenient facts that a huge number of them owned other humans and treated them worse than cattle. They don't want kids to hear about the brutality of slavery. They want to pretend that the Civil War was about "States Rights." To combat this, they invent the idea that Critical Race Theory is being taught to elementary students. They lie and say that white children are being made to feel guilty because of their skin color. They deny that black Americans experience racism or are treated differently than whites by the police, employers and educators.

As for the gay stuff, they cannot allow anyone to be a homosexual. They want to pretend it is an abomination. They want to go back to the times when it was classified as a mental illness. Some believe you can "pray away the gay." What they don't care about is the bullying and abuse that gay kids go through. They don't care about the stats that show schools that supports LGBTQ communities have better outcomes for these children. But, as we've seen time and time again, they don't really care about kids unless they can use them as a cudgel to beat their political opponents over the head with.

Now, in Ontario....I'm starting to lean to the idea that we need to ween our selves off of the two school boards. I went to catholic schools throughout my youth. They were good. But, at the same time, I realize now that if there was just one board, we would be much more efficient with our funding. It would require fewer schools, oversight, management. There would probably be the same number of teachers. At the same time, it would increase the diversity in the classroom. Never went to school with muslims, hindus or jews until University (now, I knew a number from all those communities from playing soccer and baseball).

What...that's not going to fly in today's GOP. They want God(Christian) and prayer back in schools and public money to fund religious schools.

She might be wacko, but who in the GOP has condemned these ridiculous statements?
Insanity is a requirement for GOP. What's really fucked up is that they think equal rights for blacks and gays is equal to kidnapping and insurrections

With the ultra corrupt Supreme Court expect history books which state Donald Trump won the 2020 election and was the greatest president ever.

That's the other thing about when conservatives meddle in education. They attack teachers, so many leave the profession (look at Florida and Texas and their lack of qualified teachers), then strangle the school boards with a lack of money. It's like they're doing all they can to kill public education and push people to charter schools. Or they slash the number of hours required to graduate. I remember about 15 or so years ago Jeb Bush, as governor of Florida, cut hours for seniors to graduate high school. It was to save money, but it cut their education. They want the general public to be dumb as sacks of hammers (so they keep voting GOP), and make it cheaper/easier for the wealthy or upper middle class to send their kids to better private schools that get some funding from the state.

Keep this in mind: If you look at the states with the worst educational performance, they are almost all have historically been led by the GOP.

A grown man that would remove his penis and call himself a women doesn't qualify as mental illness?

Wow, ain't that something.
Listen, you are obviously a straight male, as am I. We feel comfortable in our skins. I do not know how trans people feel. I believe them when they say they feel like the wrong gender. And, at the end of the day, how the fuck does that impact me in any way? Am I losing privileges or rights? Am I being inconvenienced because I 'might' have to call someone they or it or some other pronoun?

And, if you read what I actually wrote, I'm specifically talking about homosexuality, which was characterized as a mental illness until about 50 years ago in the mid 70s. But keep shifting the goal posts....

What might not inconvenience you, could inconvenience someone else. Because a person can't deal with their biological reality, we have to pretend just to make them feel good?

The goal post can be anywhere you want it to be. This is a package deal right now. If one thing is accepted, then 25 other things come with it. That's the issue.

I didn't want to say this but I'mma say it any way. You talk about homosexuality no longer being classified as a mental illness. The same organization are actively working trying to reclassify pedophilia. What does that show you about their integrity?

How? Only thing I could figure is a guy getting upset if he finds out his GF was born with a Y chromosome.
Can you not understand why some parents don't want their kids around this?

Kids are very impressionable and when a person of a trusted authoritative position start putting ideologies in their head, they just go with it not grasping reality. Schools need to be neutral with and aid in the academic development of students, not the indoctrination of them.
