Trump knew the Jan crowd had weapons but said 'they weren't there to hurt me'

I think the whole "Trump tried to grab the steering wheel" story is bullshit. I mean, first, could he even fit through that gap separating the passenger compartment and the driver's seat? Doubtful. Second, as someone already said, he's too much of a make believe tough guy to do anything that would require to risk injury. I just cannot see that happening.

Now, that being said, I totally believe virtually everything else we heard. I mean, I can see Donald having a temper tantrum. It's on brand.

America is sooooooo fucked up right now.

And, for those still wondering about the difference between the MSM and right-wing fart catchers like Fox - just look at Fox's lack of coverage or the way they try to spin it. MSM would cover this if it were Biden or Obama trying to do something similar. They wouldn't try to ignore it or make it seem like a nothing burger.

I think your first instinct is right.
Notice that story was told by Ornato - the Secret Service guy who became Trump's political advisor.
Do you really think a noted coward and wimp like Trump tried to grab a steering wheel or attacked a Secret Service guy?
Please.
I am sure he threw a hissy fit, but this just sounds like Ornato wanting to make Trump sound like less of a pussy.

Of course, this is going to be the target for the denials.
It's like the pee tape - it's too good an image and story to not report, even if it is weakly sourced.

So this is how I see this going down.
Fox and the RW noise machine will focus on that part of the story and there will be all kinds of arguments about if it really happened. Maybe the guy (Engel?) will go on the record, maybe not, about it not happening.

It changes nothing of course. She only relayed what she was told and the essence of the story (that he was mad they weren't going) won't be denied.
The important bits are things like Trump knowingly told armed supporters to march on the Capitol, Meadows spoke to Stone and Flynn the night before January 6 and then wanted a pardon.
They may not get away with it, but that's going to be the play. Take a small detail that doesn't actually invalidate the main point and argue it to death and then say how it was all a hoax.
The same as they do with the Russia involvement.
The same kind of fake "debate" tactic the Ben Shaprio types like to use to bog down and distract a discussion.

I'd like to think it won't work because it is so transparent, but because the MSM wants to boost the GOP and Trump when they can, they will let themselves be sucked into "did he or did he not grab the wheel" and that will be used by the noise machine to argue that obviously nothing she testified to should be taken seriously.

Maybe I'm wrong and they won't bite, but that's what I expect.
Well, seems that it has already started and the usual suspects are running with it.
The question now becomes whether the MSM chases the shiny object or not and turns "Did he grab the wheel!?" into the main story.

Notice, by the way, that currently you have one person on the record under oath and on the other side an anonymous source that says that someone else would testify but no one on the record but that won't stop people with motivated reasoning from saying "See! She's been totally exposed as a liar!" (Even though if the USSC comes forward to testify that he didn't grab the wheel, it doesn't say she was lying at all. To do that you would need Tony coming forward under oath to say he never told that story to her. Let's see if that happens.)

It is amazing how by just reading some of the member's posts here you know exactly what the FOX and the GOP spin machine are going to do. LMAO

Sure, that particular story lies in the piss tape category of rump lore. Second hand stories that sound outrageous yet aren't outrageous enough to be unbelievable coming from rump. Its all within that 'If this were played upon a stage now, I could condemn it as an improbable fiction.' category.

The right wing will hang on this as if this, the only second hand part of her testimony, somehow has any impact on her credibility.

What this testimony does do is provide first hand, eye witness testimony of direct links between rump, Stone and the Oath Keepers and Proud Boys along with testimony confirming rump's desire to take the government over by force.

We'll see what the secret service has to say about this one particular story.

The question really becomes will Tony Ornato actually testify under oath or do as the rest of the mob and plead the 5th.
Even Meadows was smart enough to plead the 5th and beg for a pardon.
The secret service is apparently willing to make a statement as well, I wonder where they would go or if they would actually publicly make a statement about a president. That just doesn't seem likely.

Tony Ornato, if he testifies, will also have to testify about whether or not he told rump that there were weapons in the Jan 6 crowd.

Interesting.

It's Bidens fault. He talked 7 million more people into voting for him instead of Trump.
Well actually, Biden was in his basement most of 2020.

More accurately, Trump talked 7 million more people into not voting for himself.

I'm confused. I have a legitimate question. I could not get the answer reading reports last night. Was Cassidy Hutchinson in the car? If not, why was the Committee asking her about what happened in the car?

Of course, I would like to hear what Secret Service agents have to say. As far as the MSM chasing the shiny object, based on what I saw yesterday they did their Run!, Poorest, Run! routine. We will have to see if they bring that back a bit.

It's in the testimony. The beast story was only one that was second hand, told to her by Tony Ornato. Hutchinson gave her testimony under oath, will Ornato? Or will he plead the 5th like the rest of rump's mob?

I asked if Cassidy Hutchinson was in the car. That's really all that is required in response.
Again, it's in her statement.
She was not in the car, Tony Ornato told her the story afterwards and may now deny telling her.

The Fox News anchors and reporters are far more objective than many here will acknowledge. It's the prime time commentators that many should reserve their criticism.
Like 30 minutes per day versus 12 hours of commentators?
