Bring Back 80's Synth Pop

Looking at what's been posted in this thread so far, it's pretty clear to me that unassuming was a 'skinny tie guy' forty years ago, but most of the rest of you know 80's synth pop from Much More Music retro dance party, sort of the new wave equivalent of Q-107. Not a diss; more of an observation.

You're correct. Even Town Called Malice is not classified as synth pop.

The Jam didn't play Punk rock, either. They just happened to sign a record deal with Polydor around the same time that Punk was emerging. They were Mods, playing 'Maximum R n B'. Punks wore ripped clothing and 'gear nicked from junk shops', whereas The Jam wore tailored mohair suits. Then and now, Paul Weller cut his own hair.
