I get that it's bad timing but I think most on here are being a little harsh. If this was on netjets I don't think it would have made half the headlines.
Right now the entire aviation sector is complying with covid rules which includes corporate guys. Many private jets are not serving meals to minimize mask removal. That decision alone can help provide a safe environment for crews. Its Pilots and Flight Attendants that move these people. If they cant fly that means aircraft owners cant freely move around These guys are multi-millionaires/billionaires. They are not young spring chickens. Many of them are between the ages of 50-80 years old who need to be super careful so they are playing it safe.
So, if you wanted to horse around on a private jet, you're the sole owner of the aircraft. NetJets sell shares. You can buy as little as 25 hours on an aircraft. Most CEO's who own the complete airplane themselves have their company logo on the tail. Netjets wont allow you to do that since there's probably 10 owners assigned to one aircraft. Its the cheaper way of getting access to a jet. Have you ever seen video's of people partying on a jet? Those individuals are " renting " ( chartering ) the jet. CEO's, the ones that pay for the 70 million dollar machine, don't party like that. Of course they have a great time on their toy, however, they own the aircraft for privacy reasons and of course convenience.
The days of these giant parties you see in movies on airplanes are not there anymore. There's too much liability. A wine spill can equate to a carpet replacement. That carpet goes through some serious fire testing to meet a certain burn rate. This equates to mega bucks. To replace the cabin carpet you're looking at 250,000. If anyone damage's a seat, add 30,000 to that. We had new seats placed into the cockpit. Guess how much a PIlot's seat costs? The total bill was 84,000 since each chair cost 42,000. So, if that was your aircraft, your paid for that machine yourself, wouldn't you be hyper sensitive to people being reckless? Rock bands cant buy an aircraft, but they can afford to dish out a charter here and there. Not too many movie stars have airplanes too. They charter since owning comes with a fast financial burn rate. I remember Simon Cowell ( American Idol dude ) once said on public television his dream was to own a Gulfstream. When he saw the numbers, he was shocked how much it costs which spooked him out.
Anyways, I think most of us here wouldn't have a problem with these kids if they acted responsibly. Have your vodka. Have fun on the aircraft. They can play tunes and sing all they want, as long as they don't bother others, stay seated and of course wear your mask. All of these guys partied with no consideration for the crew and they partied like it was their house. Under these circumstances you cant do that right now. And for the ones who are defending these kids, why? They are producing fake covid tests because they are too cool to stand in line like everyone else. Also, they were smoking on the airplane. Did you hear the one girl say she didn't realize you cannot vape on an aircraft? Come on really? She said " I wasn't told by the crew that I couldn't vape ". So she deflected her actions and put her doings on the crew. Cannot even take ownership or say she screwed up. We all know individuals like this. I think most of us can agree you cannot rationalize with these types of personalities. They need to be punished. That's the way they learn.
