Sounds like they bought the gun specifically for the kid and let him take it when they knew he was in crisis. It's even possible they got him the gun because he was angry.
I read A CNN article in this. These parents did just about everything wrong here. It will be a test case but may be a winner.

Well, let's fact check that.
Huber was convicted of assaulting a family member when he had a psychiatric breakdown and was taken to the mental hospital. Sounds pretty sympathetic to me. Not your usual domestic violence episode. The guy probably thought he was being assaulted by space goblins or something. He also got in a minor misdemeanour fight w another family member later on.
(That latter offence is about the equivalent to Rittenhouse punching out the girl who attacked his sister, just for comparison).
And Grosskreutz was convicted of a misdemeanour when he possessed a firearm when intoxicated. (Pretty standard for any gun buff. I mean, how many good, solid rednecks have gotten drunk and shot up cans?)
You think those 2 people deserve to die because they're "criminals" and Rittenhouse did the world a "favour"??!!..... Probably 25% of the guys out there have similar past criminal records like that chickenshit.
This is the rightie equivalent to the mainstream "Rittenhouse took weapons across the state lines" crap.

They're certainly civilly liable for negligence. But they're trailer trash, Republican garbage without a penny to their names. And probably no insurance. They wouldn't give a shit if there was a $100 million civil judgment against them. They'd just flip the finger and go off and live in a different trailer park.

If they are Trumpists, they are most likely wealthy. Household probably has a 6 figure income, possibly two independent six figure incomes.
They're not quite trailer trash. I exaggerated. But they appear low-end working class. They live in a very small house.
