I think Cole "Goal" Caufield is the real deal. He looked very much at home against the Knights (one of the top teams in the NHL)

People talk about his shot, speed, hockey IQ. He is also a great passer. Who can forget his passback to Suzuki and the cross ice pass to Toffoli.

He reminds me of a young Yvan Cournoyer.

Yes, but every HOFer starts somewhere. Time will tell. (If memory serves me right, Cournoyer was strictly a PP specialist for his first year or two.)

His passes are impressive. Hope he doesn't become "pass happy".

As I understand it, players are taller and thicker than they used to be. Back in the day off season if they were lucky was golf not getting swole.

Another small guy that made a big impact for the Canadiens was Mats Naslund.

He was 5'7 160 lbs. Not a hall of famer by any stretch but a very good player just the same.

Google Tim Horton, Gordie Howe or Bobby Hull images and see if you can spot some of their beefcake shots without a shirt. Those guys were fucking immense and also ripped af.

Tampa the better team tonight. Followed the Score feed late in the game, most Hab fans started complaining about TB being $19 million over the cap but I guess Hab fans can’t figure out there’s no salary cap in the playoffs

Fitting result in game 1. Grit and luck will only get you so far. Tampa will end this quickly.

Caufield has impressed. I thought he was just another over-hyped Habs prospect like Louis Leblanc but he has great hands and hockey IQ. But he looks like he's 5'2 out there.

Montreal also lost the first games against Toronto and Vegas by a wide margin.
But Tampa is clearly a far better team than either the Leafs or the Golden Knights.

Montreal has to minimize Tampa's power play opportunities as it is deadly, and has to cut down on turnovers at Tampa's blue line as the Bolts counter attack is impressive.
Not sure that the Hab's will be able to implement a stifling defensive style against the speedy Tampa forwards, and the mobile and very large Tampa defense. Without last change they lost the line match ups as well.

It will be interesting to see if the Hab's can make any adjustments for Game 2.

Did not get to watch this game ... too exhausted after overdosing on Euro2020 soccer earlier in the day .... but I took notice when the Bolts put on a clinic in game 7 against the Islanders and they were quite impressive... this is an experienced unit that is very clutch when it matters and with plenty of weapons and talent ..... I’m rooting for tge Habs even though they eliminated both my picks ( Leafs & Knights) , but that was just business and they are our last Canadian team after all .... now going forward it’s just one game and they have shown to be a resilient/tough bunch throughout the playoffs... but IMO they will need to steal game 2 to realistically hope to win this series otherwise they will be up against it

Habs are really in tough here.

Tbay was just a little better than they were in every facet of the game tonight. They are well oiled machine that plays tremendous positional hockey.

It's going to take a herculean effort to beat them.
