I don't actually agree with that statement. In order to choose a side you have to weigh the wrongdoings of each. Very few groups, be they political or religious or other distinction, are pure white. If any.
This, of course, presents a problem in today's environment where people never forgive, nor forget.
We're saying the same thing.

WRONG to side with hamas you are supporting a designated terrorist group
And to side with Israel you are siding with cruel oppressors.

Also, while not right one persons terrorist is another person freedom fighter. If it wasnt for hamas gaza would be bulldozed.

My point is between cruel oppressors and terrorists there is a third option....don t side with either group.

Listening to News Talk 1010 today... they are saying that Veltman pulled into an empty mall parking lot. Only car there was a cab, and he told the cabbie that he just hit some people, and that he should probably call the police. His truck was damaged and had blood on it.

The cab driver told a reporter that he was wearing a vest, and his shirt had swastikas on it. That has not been confirmed by any other sources.

His social media appears to have been scrubbed. However, the police have the tools to go into the registry of his laptop...

By all accounts, this was a good family. I heard yesterday the mom had just earned a degree. The 15 yr girl was quite artsy.

What a senseless tragedy.

Kinda strange how a news story about a family getting run over has degenerated into a Jew vs Palestine, ISIS, and religious fundamentalism

I consider myself quite right wing but even I think there is a huge amount of racism in this thread

Is there ANYTHING that links this story to hatred (by either the killer or the family) or is this just a case of certain posters roots are showing?

(BTW taking thread off on tangents is actually against Terbs rules as well assuming mods want to enforce anything)

Is this TeeJay's doppelganger?

If you're in danger TJ type "Q" 3 times

To say something not right in London is not justification. ...
it sure looks that way when you take a thread about Muslims being attacked as an excuse to speculate about Muslims being dangerous.

The problem with the Israel/palestine issue is thst if you feel the need to pick a side you have to overlook some wrong doing....
You could do what people should do with every situation; take the time to read authors and historians from a wide range of positions and be prepared to point out actions by anyone that don't align with your moral compass. And if you are wanting to speak publicly, you should admit that every situation is too complex to be broken down to slogans and be able to back up your views with something more than just emotional buzzwords.

Sorry but before Hamas took charge of Gaza, there were very few limits in imports, exports, or travel. Compare the conditions in Gaza to the conditions of PA controlled areas of the West Bank. People might support or justify Hamas' terrorism but that doesn't make it right or moral.

I believe you said you were a teacher. Would you teach your students that the best way to resolve a problem is through violence? Do think kids being bullied should emulate Columbine?

I think you should take your own advice and do some reading.
(and please keep these posts about Israel to the politics threads)

Here's three internationally recognized expert organizations known for not being biased against either side.

"Documents filed in Veltman’s parents’ 2016 divorce proceedings make no mention of racism or radicalization, but portray someone prone to anger and who was medicated for mental illness."

BTW: If Strathroy sounds familiar, it is the same town where Harun Abdurhman (Aaron Driver) died before he was able to carry out his planned terrorist attack.
Court documents portray London attack suspect as prone to anger, medicated for mental illness | CTV News
Ok, so if you think he had mental issues how did this change from general/family anger into an Islamaphobic act of terrorism?

Thats what I figured. 24 people had a restraining order against him, plus he laughed out loud when he got arrested.
Doesnt sound like a mentally stable person

He loves his soapbox. He even said that Islamic terrorism is no big deal because more people in Canada are killed bees every year. Go figure
If you really wanna mess with his head, ask him how many bees there are in Canada vs. how many muslims.
Then ask him if he still thinks bees kill more people per capita.

I bet it'll make his head spin (or perhaps not) 😂
