The US President needs to do the right thing and not play politics. He stated that last weeks shooting was racially motivated to support his narrative. He can’t use that excuse this time. The truth is the US needs to address their gun laws. All this left and right infighting and the truth is no politicians give a flying fuck about anything but votes and power. Trump was terrible but what was worse was all the emotion and hate against him. He’s only a politician, nothing changes and nothing gets done. When Biden came in, he was treated like the second coming of Christ. He isn’t. He won’t address gun laws because he’s a politician and they don’t give a fuck.

As I just seen on TV, you'd be disappointed to know that they are pointing fingers at each other...I agree with you, it's time to quit playing politics, quit blaming each other, do more than just say words for the audience, actually do something that helps.

Nothing will happen...there is a large group of Americans that uphold the 2nd Amendment and Big Government should mind their own business:

I believe the NRA posted shortly after.

“A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”

If Sandy Hook didn't change anything then nothing will. My opinon is nothing wrong with owning guns but more regulations should be created, whatever that may be. Majority of gun owners are law abiding but too easy to buy a gun/assault rifle.

2 nd amendment always raises a smile with me. If they’ve changed it once, why not change it again and have a 3rd amendment. The US is fucked. You can’t find a ‘male’ bathroom in California yet you can buy an automatic from Walmart, trip over the homeless on your way out of the store and shoot people the same day.

Assault weapons have been banned in the US since 1968 an assault rifle by definition is a select fire rifle ie it had the ability to fire semi and full automatic Set my automatic rifles are not even a factor in the overall statistics in gun deaths in the United States handguns are still the most commonly used

Right after your ten days waiting period is over, safety certificate obtained, etc. Then, and only then, you can walk out of the store with a weapon and start shooting people.

I don't know anything about gun laws so had to look it up. Is this the Guns Control Act of 1968?

"Under the Gun Control Act, a federally licensed importer, manufacturer, dealer or collector shall not sell or deliver any rifle or shotgun or ammunition for rifle or shotgun to any individual less than 18 years of age, nor any handgun or ammunition for a handgun to any individual less than 21 years of age.[18] "

From Wiki:

Prohibited persons
The Gun Control Act of 1968 was amended in 1993 by the Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act which introduced a background check requirement of prospective gun purchasers by licensed sellers, and created a list of categories of individuals to whom the sale of firearms is prohibited:[13]

It shall be unlawful for any person to sell or otherwise dispose of any firearm or ammunition to any person knowing or having reasonable cause to believe that such person—
(1) is under indictment for, or has been convicted in any court of, a crime punishable by imprisonment for a term exceeding one year;
(2) is a fugitive from justice;
(3) is an unlawful user of or addicted to any controlled substance (as defined in section 102 of the Controlled Substances Act (21 U.S.C. 802));
(4) has been adjudicated as a mental defective or has been committed to any mental institution;
(5) who, being an alien—
(A) is illegally or unlawfully in the United States; or(B) except as provided in subsection (y)(2), has been admitted to the United States under a nonimmigrant visa (as that term is defined in section 101(a)(26) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (8 U.S.C. 1101 (a)(26)));
(6) who has been discharged from the Armed Forces under dishonorable conditions;
(7) who, having been a citizen of the United States, has renounced their citizenship;
(8) is subject to a court order that restrains such person from harassing, stalking, or threatening an intimate partner of such person or child of such intimate partner or person, or engaging in other conduct that would place an intimate partner in reasonable fear of bodily injury to the partner or child, except that this paragraph shall only apply to a court order that—
(A) was issued after a hearing of which such person received actual notice, and at which such person had the opportunity to participate; and(B)(i) includes a finding that such person represents a credible threat to the physical safety of such intimate partner or child; or(ii) by its terms explicitly prohibits the use, attempted use, or threatened use of physical force against such intimate partner or child that would reasonably be expected to cause bodily injury; or
(9) has been convicted in any court of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence.
With the following exceptions:[14]

(ii) A person shall not be considered to have been convicted of such an offense for purposes of this chapter if the conviction has been expunged or set aside, or is an offense for which the person has been pardoned or has had civil rights restored (if the law of the applicable jurisdiction provides for the loss of civil rights under such an offense) unless the pardon, expungement, or restoration of civil rights expressly provides that the person may not ship, transport, possess, or receive firearms.
While many states upon completion of sentence automatically reinstate rights to vote, sit on a jury, or serve in public office, no states restore gun ownership rights upon completion of sentence.[15] Some states reinstate rights depending on the crime convicted of, and others have a petition process. Those convicted of a federal offense must contact the Office of the Pardon Attorney, Department of Justice, to receive a presidential pardon. Under the Department's rules governing petitions for executive clemency, 28 C.F.R. §§ 1.1 et seq., an applicant must satisfy a minimum waiting period of five years before he becomes eligible to apply for a presidential pardon of his federal conviction.

According to a 21 Sep 2011 "Open Letter to All Federal Firearms Licensees" from ATF, holders of state-issued medical marijuana cards are automatically "prohibited people" under 18 U.S.C 922 (g)(3) and "shipping, transporting, receiving or possessing firearms or ammunition" by a medical marijuana card holder is a violation.[16]

Additionally, 18 U.S.C 922 (x) generally prohibits people under 18 years of age from possessing handguns or handgun ammunition with certain exceptions for employment, target practice, education, and a handgun possessed while defending the home of the juvenile or a home in which they are an invited guest.[17]

The Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act of 1993 created the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) to prevent firearms sales to such prohibited people.

From what I heard in the news media, the weapon used was an assault rifle.

Why am I reading that the Atlanta shooter got a gun the same day then?

Did the media outlet have that wrong?

Not every State/City has a cooling off period. There are also loopholes like gun shows....etc

Kamala Harris' niece blasted for tweet assuming Colorado shooter was White man: 'This is WILD'

Vice President Kamala Harris' niece said Tuesday she assumed the suspected mass shooter in Colorado was a White man in part because he was taken into custody alive, leading to accusations she engaged in racial profiling.

Meena Harrris was forced to delete a tweet erroneously assuming the race of the suspected killer of 10 people in a Boulder grocery store, after it was revealed he was of Syrian descent.

"The Atlanta shooting was not even a week ago. Violent white men are the greatest terrorist threat to our country," Meena Harris tweeted on Monday.

Now that 21-year-old Ahmad Al Aliwi Alissa is in custody for the shooting, Harris admitted her assumption was based on him "being taken into custody alive and the fact that the majority of mass shootings in the U.S. are carried out by white men."

Alissa was born in Syria but has lived in the United States most of his life, according to reports. He was injured during the shooting before being arrested. One of the 10 killed in the massacre was a policeman, Officer Eric Talley.

Harris received sharp criticism for her racially charged jump to conclusion.

The media is wrong it is not an assault weapon assault weapon is a select fire rifle that means it’s capable of semi automatic and full automatic fire They actually banned full auto in the 30s in the United States but they opened it up again and 68 full auto is considered class 3 same as suppressors and short barrel rifles
Semiautomatic rifles are so in frequently used in crimes they don’t even factor statistically in the overall gun deaths in the United States which is still led by handguns

National firearms act of 1934 is what covers full auto

Looks like the niece is as sharp as her aunt.
