can anyone today perform like this? if so please name them
Um... Nope! Imho Sam Moore was one of the greatest soul singers ever, and Dave Prater was his perfect partner and foil (even as much as they hated each other towards the end of their partnership).

Other great "soul" duos that come to mind, but not at the same level:

Ernie & Eddie
Mel & Tim
James & Bobby Purify
Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell
The Righteous Brothers
Hall & Oates

Btw, shortly after it was released, I read a review in Creem magazine about Sam & Dave's "I Thank You" album. They couldn't praise it enough, to which I totally agreed, and they stated that it was recorded in just a few days of studio time in between two on-the-road gigs. Outstanding!!!

Also, a must see DVD is the "Stax/Volt Revue, Live In Norway" from a 1967 concert.

Artists:
Otis Redding
Sam & Dave,
Eddie Floyd
Arthur Conley
The MarKeys
Booker T. and the M.G.'s

Hearing them on record is only about 60% of the complete experience...

Available on Amazon, and possibly from other sources.

I'm out of touch, never heard any of Jay - Z's music.

The local scene has become so vibrant that I haven't paid attention to anything foreign, how's K-os career going since he moved to Vancouver?

He's only been around since the early-mid 90's. You'll get around to it................eventually

The beginning of that track was sampled by House Of Pain on their hit Jump Around.

On June 28, 1988 (32 years ago today) Public Enemy released what I believe to be the greatest hip hop record in history - "It Takes a Nation of Millions To Hold Us Back". What was particularly remarkable about this record, besides the militant political and socially conscious lyrics, was the extensive sampling of James Brown. That had such an influence on future producers and ended up making James Brown the most sampled artist in hip hop history. Prophets of Rage is my favorite track from the album, also my favorite Public Enemy track ever. Yo kick it Chuck.

The Markeys was the early house band of Stax records eventually morphing into Booker T and The MG<s the Barkays came later and was ill fated because some of the members toured with Otis Redding and went down with the plane along with Otis
