A drama teacher who put on inappropriate costumes.
Like that's never happened before in theatre.
Are you saying Trudeau's flamboyant?

Has Frankfooter accused Doug Ford of selling drugs in blackface yet?
Oh, you're so right.
Being a crackhead in office, lying about it and being a blackmail victim are way more serious than a drama teacher in inappropriate costume.

You know how during an election, often times there will be a location plastered with signs from all the parties and candidates? I usually see them near busy intersections on public property. Now I'm sure if someone posted a sign of JT's face beside the Liberal candidate's sign, there would be no problem. How long before someone puts one of these face pics by a Liberal sign on public property? I bet someone finds it to be a problem then.

However it's extremely unlikely he ever dressed as a a Native-American, or even a native American.

There's a reason he became a drama teacher, not a chemistry instructor. And he is the Canadian PM
He's done that too

How obvious do you need it to be before you twig? Indigenous people in Canada are neither Native-American nor native American. Both are Americanisms.

Any one born here (or in the USA) is a native; the peoples whose nations were long-established here before the Europeans arrived are called collectively the First Nations of Canada. They prefer the names of their individual Nations, whenever possible.

PS: the pic in luvyah's montage of Trudeaus' many costumes, that prompted my post in reply, was happier. Apparently you missed that too. The head-dress and jacket were bestowed by the Tsuut’ina Nation, upon the Prime Minister of Canada. It's not some fake Indian-thing as you suggest. If you want to see the ceremony, your pic and the earlier one were frame-grabs a bit after the 10 minute mark of this two year old vid.

Seems you guys weren't such sensitive flowers about this stuff back then; I remember no outcry,

All this story proves is that we live in a racist society where even a woke guy like Justin Trudeau can make mistakes.

I love reading posts from all of the sanctimonious Far Right TERB members in this thread who keep beating their chests and insisting that they “always” knew this was wrong and NEVER would have done it themselves...LOL...Bullshit!

Why do you think these embarrassing stories about blackface keep arising? It’s because there was a time, not so long ago, that things like this were not understood as they are now.

I can say that when I was 29, which was before 2001, I sure as hell knew blackface was wrong. And I'm pretty sure the vast majority of the population knew as well.

Which means he didn't. What the hell does that say about him?

Good for you. However I can't imagine anyone who decided their 2001 costume party would have an Arabian Nights theme were quite so progressive and enlightened as that. Clearly the folks at the door who let the teacher in, and the other teachers who happily posed with him were not.

In any case, it's a done deal, admitted and apologized for. FWIW.

The point is today's agenda, not two decades back.

When he was growing up JT was a member of an insular society (wealthy) inside an insular society (Quebec). Quebecois don't really care about what is going on in the rest of North America just like the rest of English speaking North America doesn't really care about what is going on in Quebec

I've never seen a leader with such a lack of self awareness as JT. He's completely tone deaf. During his India trip the criticisms I would hear is even Indians aren't this Indian. Then he just keeps hamming it up

You want to know why this is funny as shit?

Because what he did wasn't from a place of racism, as you previously pointed out.

This wasn't like Blackface in the 30s, where white people were performing as caricatures of Black People in general, for the purposes of making fun of them.
He was impersonating a specific person. Who happened to be of darker complexion. And not in order to make fun of them, but to honor their performance.
Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery after all. And Justin isn't the only one to have done this with those benign intentions in mind.

But Justin has been at the forefront of creating, and pushing, a culture that does not want, or care, to distinguish the difference in motivation when others have done this and similar things. Justin has pushed for a society that is so incensed and offended at the slightest little thing, that no one even wants to look at if something was done from a position of malice, or from a position of reverence.

Mens rea doesn't factor into his, or the left's criteria for judgment and punishment of others. Something Justin has demonstrated again and again in his tenure as a politician. Something regular people labelled as "right wing" have long argued as being ridiculously intolerant, and totalitarian.

So when Justin is caught doing the same type of innocent acts he has so heavy hand-idly excoriated others for, it is only fitting that he be hoisted on his own petard. And that the Left learns that there is a hell of a lot more grey areas in human social interaction, then their agenda leaves room for.

This is why the "Far Right", as you label them, is being sanctimonious right now. Because the Left made this particular bed. Now they can sleep in it.

Blah blah blah. I bet if we went dumpster diving through your 20-year-old+ trash we’d find a shitload of embarrassing stuff. Same for me or any of the rest of us...and I am way more woke than you.

Don’t blame the Left for your actions and decisions.

If your issue is that JT was unjustly harsh with others then you should apply the same level of tolerance and compassion to his mistakes that you would for any of the other unfortunate people who were unjustly attacked. That’s why I don’t run around vaporizing people over these kinds of things- I prefer to treat it as an opportunity for growth and learning.

As Ghandi said: “An eye for an eye and we all go blind.”

You should aspire to be a better person...like me (and Ghandi).

HA HA. You still don't get it.

I have.
I've told you what I think of the issue. I think what he did, and others have done for the same reasons, are rather innocuous.
And, if the current culture was shaped by me, and many others you want to mis-label as "Far Right" we would adopt the attitude of "don't get your panties in a knot."

But in case you have been under a rock for the past decade. We didn't shape this current culture. The Left did. Against our protests to the contrary.
They built this machine of excoriation.
They set it in motion.
And they removed the kill switch.
And they didn't build this machine for anything so noble as making the world a better place. They built it to get votes.

Now this machine is doing exactly what it was designed to do. Except now, it has circled back around and is rolling right over one of it's creators.
My tolerance for Justin's actions have no more chance of stopping the machine anymore than it does when the machine is unjustly rolling over someone from the Right.
However, it is simply human nature to derive some satisfaction when a person who creates something you don't believe should have been created, is later a victim of that creation.
That's because it is the ultimate "I told you so."

And we can aspire to all sorts of personal philosophies all you want, but the Universe tends go with "You live by the sword, you die by the sword."
Whether we like it or not.

Justin right now is getting peppered by the very sword he has been living by. Karma.
I'm not so egotistical to think I can stand in the way of Karma.

Pretty much the same thing as Andrew Scheer declaring in 2005 that homosexuals should not marry because they can't procreate.

Both Scheer and Trudeau are disgusting scum. Arguing which is worse is like arguing over whether it would hurt more to be stabbed with a knife or a sword.

And because Singh is pretty much worthless as a 3rd option (and because the populace are too cowardly to vote Green), we'll likely have to choose between these two awful excuses for human beings.

He's from Quebec where they even hate white people who aren't French. I give him credit for his apology but I thought I was watching Money Mayweather up there when they started asking him about the incidents. First he said he doesn't remember the incidents, then when asked why he didn't tell his team or anyone else about it, he said he was embarrassed. Which is it? . Mr Diversity chastised anyone who was remotely intolerant. His record with indigenous people is poor at best .He's phony and a con man just like Trump, both privileged a holes. Scheer isn't any better, we have terrible options for Prime Minister
