Life is often mostly about timing. Bianca came along when Serena is past her best before date and won two matches against her. Venus Williams is done and it appears Maria Sharapova is also done. Not sure how Bianca would have fared against the William sisters and Sharapova in their prime.

Sure, timing has something to do with it, but Serena beat all of her opponents to get to the final against Bianca.

You could say that about every younger athlete who beats an older one. We'll never know, so it's a moot point. However, I see Bianca being a serious contender for many years to come.

A couple of personal views. She has won only one major. Let's all sit down and calm down. Let's see if this in fact a bona fide star or just a flash in the pan. A few years ago the public went Gaga over Eugenie Bouchard and she fizzled out. Until she starts kicking ass consistently then give her her due.

I saw Mississauga wants give her the key to the city.
Always Canadians hungry to jump on any bandwagon.

Second, I don't find her that attractive. I'm sure she's in shape but I wouldn't pay for play with her. Now Bouchard no problem.

Marketers are probably quietly saying why couldn't she look like Bouchard and play like she plays?

She won Indian Wells as a qualifier as well, and its considered a top 6 tournament. Yes she is not as pretty as Bouchard, but I think her personality is wonderful and makes her much more attractive, especially for a 19 year old. Bianca is cooler then Genie will ever be. Biggest risk is injury.

@nottyboi. You are absolutely 1000 per cent right. She seems a much nicer person and that goes a long way. After three months of being with someone the looks don't matter anymore and nothing worse than being with someone with a bad heart.

I'm sure there are a lot of boys and some young girls that have pulled it or rubbed it out to Bianca and good for them

Andreescu became the first Canadian tennis player in history to win a Grand Slam singles championship. That's a pretty big deal in my books. Canada has a right to celebrate her win!

She won a grand slam. Not just a finalist. The US Open. It's not the Rogers Cup. First Canadian woman ever and you're questioning whether she is legit? She put the fear in Serena. Up until then Serena walked over everyone. She was on fire. Wang lost to her even before the first ball was struck.

What sets her apart is she is a fighter. Everyone has nerves but she overcame them. We're talking the finals of a major against a legend. She didn't choke. She's a thinking player. Has a variety of shots. Slice, drop, lobs. Has a strong serve. Has speed. Has power. She's young so probably has endurance.

Unless she's content with a few million and gets lazy. The only thing holding her back will be her drive. Drive to move up the rankings and to beat the best of the best. Her record this year vs top 10 players no losses. That is no fluke.
