Wondering the Bruins will make a change for Gm2. They might put Beregon on Matthews instead. So far, signing Tavares worked out pretty well in Gm1. Either Matthews or Kadri will do well in the series because they don't have enough guys to check our centremen!

For those who thought Leafs couldn't play defense through their swoon in March they can play defense. It is Holl Marincin and Oz who can't play defense and as long as they don't play Leafs are fine

Petan will prob replace Ennis next year and Rosen for Gardner

Tavares destroyed Bergeron on the faceoffs. I can see why they want to keep the top line away from Tavares.

They can do that but the defensive pairing to match Boston top line will be always be Reilly/Hainsey or Muzzin/Z. Matthews had a good defensive game in game 1.

....so if they can keep holding Boston to just 38 shots per game they’ll be good.
Boston allowed 33 shots and 3 goals (plus empty netter)...not exactly defensive gem either. Andersen is a goalie who likes a lot of shots to keep him in the game. Andersen has a history of getting a lot of shots per game dating back to his international (Olympics and world Champs) playing days when his country always gets outshot.

For those who may be confused, I gave him recommendations for the next time he's in town. One bite, everyone knows the rules.

but how many of them were breakaways or odd man rushes? You think plenty shots is bad defense? It's high danger scoring chances. Teams who can't get good shots because of good defense will take bad shots. If you're holding the lead going into the 3rd the other team will come on like gang busters. They will pull the goalie. How often did Leafs blow the lead this year going into the 3rd? You base bad defense on 38 shots? Did you even watch the game or just check the box scores?

This is a new era of hockey where there is no hooking and holding. All the rules are for pro offense. PP starts in offensive zone. Icing can't line change. 2 line passes. Speed is king. Shots are inevitable. This ain't the 1960's.

Boston is the 3rd best team in the league based on record with a super line. The super line did not look dangerous whole game aside from the first power play.

You're probably also the one who said Marner sucks cause he's too small.

A very selfish, undisciplined, cheap shot cross check to Debrusk's head by Kadri - took away any chance the Leafs had of at least making the game close. Kadri (as a repeat offender) likely gone for a couple of games.
He may have been trying to get back at Debrusk for what he thought was hit targeting his knee earlier - but it was the wrong time for any retaliation. Have never really liked Kadri for exactly this reason - can't control his temper and takes cheap shots that hurt his team.

First 2 goals Muzzin in right position but just flubs the puck. 3rd goal no focus by Nylander. 4th goal great save on PP rebound to Pasternak no chance. Andersen played great. If he plays this way Leafs got a shot. A few errors cost them the game. An error by Kadri will cost him another suspension again in 1st round of playoffs with Boston. He just lost it.

In person hearing. Could be min 5 games. That'll probably mean Nylander to center 3rd line. Ennis in and Brown moves up to 3rd.

The 22 Zaitev has to find out the effectiveness of the defenses immediately to make sure all his actions count. If you couldn't get the puck or stop the play, all your running around were meanningless, helpless, nothing. This is play-off hockey not show-off hockey. You have to take it seriously detail oriented into the play.

I always remember the LeBron James change room talk: 'you have to want it as bad as your last breathe.' This is probably the tallest, hardest mountain to climb up. It's challenging, exciting...

The Leafs need to figure out how to control the first 5-10minutes every game from now immediately till the all season ends. There is no break time in the play-off hockey. Every minute counts from start to finish every game. Not easy...

Fucked that. One person on the team has to show some fight. First he gets a penalty for basically being tackled and face washed and when he finally defends himself a little, he goes to the box with Debrusk for roughing. Then gets fucking knee on kneed by the guy that could have ended his season and have career changing implications with no call. Someone on this team needed to fight back and show toughness. I know a crosscheck to the head is a bit extreme, but the knee on knee earlier was just as bad.

If the leafs loose this series, my opinion of hockey will never change that toughness and grit have a place is this game that need to part of team as much as speed and skill. Many of us have been saying it all season long that this team has now grit, now we'll see just how much this hurts us.
