some of them make 200k annually giving traffic tickets.Police wages will increase by 11.1% over the next 5 years. Considering the risks involved in doing their job and the abuse they take, I have no problems with the wage increase.
Wow! $200K does seem like a lot for a fairly simple job but I have seen and heard they are subject to both verbal and physical abuses. Some even risk being run over.some of them make 200k annually giving traffic tickets.
And an electrician risks being electrocuted, and a miner risks being buried alive, and a press operator risks losing a limb. Risk is just one part of the equation, and while it does justify higher wages, what is a fair rate is relative. I think it's already common perception that polices wages in Canada are too high, on average. The average police wage in America, which I personally feel presents MUCH greater risks to officers, is $24,000 a year lower than Canada. And that's after accounting for the exchange rate!Wow! $200K does seem like a lot for a fairly simple job but I have seen and heard they are subject to both verbal and physical abuses. Canada has the highest paid police in the world. A constable in the GTA makes a higher starting salary than a NYC police sergeant.
Is it just the cops that are overpaid or does it apply generally to all public servants. Also, I find service workers like roofers, AC and heating, dentists, etc. ridiculously expensive. Our cops are way overpaid. And way too many lucrative benefits
Toronto's police has one of the safest jobs. Well down on the danger ladder from trades, construction, transportation, farming, etc. Ultimately, the salary should reflect complexity of the job and recruitment. I don't have a problem with higher rates at the truly skilled levels of policing, but the entry and lower levels of the pay scale are way out of wack.Police wages will increase by 11.1% over the next 5 years. I have an uncle who always brags about how easy his job is and how much he makes when in front of the "guys"...shuts his mouth when my aunt is around..he is a parking enforcement officer.Wow! $200K does seem like a lot for a fairly simple job but I have seen and heard they are subject to both verbal and physical abuses. Agreed - all you nay sayers just imagine how it felt to discover this https://www.ctvnews.ca/canada/dad-c...self-inflicted-gunshot-wound-police-1.4300790.Police wages will increase by 11.1% over the next 5 years. So barely keeping up with inflationPolice wages will increase by 11.1% over the next 5 years. Considering the risks involved in doing their job and the abuse they take, I have no problems with the wage increase.
These are questions that torment men's and women's souls. Why? For example, why should someone make $330 million for hitting a little white ball? Why does my roofer charge me a minimum $500 just to do a little patch on my roof? Why?so then solders should probably be making what 250-500K a year plus then? maybe a mill?
