I doubt Khabib will get stripped. If anything, they’ll probably try to do a rematch at some point and use footage of the brawl in their promo material.

Ok, yeah, peop,e have been stripped or banned for less. Paul Daley got a lifetime ban from the UFC for punching Josh Koscheck after the bell. Difference is, Khabib just beat Conor McGregor, which makes him a huge star now. Conor went on a rampage in April, threw a dolly through a bus window, injured several other fighters resulting in them being unable to fight, and he got a slap on the wrist and a title shot. Jon Jones popped for roids twice, was in two car accidents due to DUI, one involving a hit and run of a pregnant woman, tested positive for cocaine, and hid from USADA agents who were trying to test him. Jon Jones will be fighting in the UFC again in a couple months, likely for the title.

Point is, if you’re a nobody and you do something bad, you’re fucked. If you’re a big star, you’ll get a slap on the wrist, then probably rewarded with a huge payday fight. Khabib will be fine. Still a huge dick move to attack Dillon Danis, and his buddy should (and probably will be) banned and charged for sucker punching Conor.

None of those incidents happened in the ring, the NSAC will also be involved. Even the thug UFC doesn't like these incidents in the sport, boxing will love this.

Oh, I agree 100%. Tony/Khabib is the match to make and should be a crazy fight, assuming they can ever get it to actually happen. That fight’s cursed! I just know how Uncle Dana operates. They were using footage of the bus attack to hype this fight. You know a rematch would do huge numbers. The UFC under WME is all about the money fights.

I hate instant rematches too. They should only happen if something controversial happens, in my opinion. Shogun/Machida, for example, was a deserved instant rematch. Shogun got fucked by shitty judging (Cecil Peoples, go figure), everyone knew he won that fight. Just giving every champion who loses an instant rematch like they seem to be doing nowadays is awful and unfair. You basically have to beat the champion twice to become champion now.

Shenanigans aside, tremendous performance by Khabib. His striking is improving and we now know he definitely has a chin.

As much as I would like to see him fight Ferguson next. I would really like to see him match up against GSP.

It would be a classic chess match between to masters with incredibly similar skill sets. Dana would salivate at the PPV possibilities as well.

GSP is always talking legacy fights and this would be his crowning achievement if he could pull it off. If all this post fight crap hadn't happened this dream fight could have been a real reality. Now who knows what the future holds for the UFC's new bad guy.

Khabib did look very good. His standup is deceptively effective. Dropping Conor was pretty impressive. He’s so good with his grappling that he can get away with not being super technical on his feet because the fear of the takedown stifles his opponent’s offence. Does seem like his cardio may need some work, he does seem to fade a bit come round 3, but even tired, he was still good enough to get the takedown and the sub in round 4.

Co-main was great too. Tony is a crazy motherfucker. Him grinning like a lunatic while covered with Pettis’ blood was a hell of an image. Kinda surprised Pettis didn’t try to fight through the broken hand, but I guess good for him not taking an unnecessary beating. Great fight while it lasted.

Derrick Lewis is hilarious. One of my favorite fighters of all time, even if he isn’t all that good. I loved him taking his shorts off, then telling Joe it was because “his balls was hot”. Laughed my ass off. Seriously one of the funniest dudes in the history of the sport.

Right after the tapout by CM, you can see how Khabib took the trash talk personally. He held that neck wrench just a little bit longer too, I'm surprised he released him.

It kind of reminds me of that Key and Peele UFC skit where one guy is just building up the fight, and the other is serious.

Connor was dominant against smaller fighters who are not good wrestlers or grapplers. Chad Mendes took him down with ease but he gassed out cuz he only had 2 weeks preparation. I gave him very little chance of beating a high level grappler who was his size.

He should fight the winner of Poirier/Diaz next or Kevin Lee. Lee's style is a nightmare for Connor, as it's similar to Khabib's.

Looks like Connor threw the first punch right after Khabib jumped into the crowd. Everyone missed it.

Is McG the Male Rhonda rousey? He did have a 2 year layoff and fought the top guy. A lot depends on his next fight and how he looks in it.

You nailed it on these points. That\s exactly how UFC & White work. Nothing ever warrants casting off a marketable asset. From being a hooligan, to assaults 7 road rage outside the octagon, to endless failed doping tests, they pay some lip service to outrage and consequences but pretty soon the violator is actually rewarded with a hyped up return. In McGregor's case, a far worse and more dangerous attack, he basically got rewarded with a fast-track to a title bout!

All they care about is headlines, clicks and new PPV milestones.

He's still the bigger guy by a little bit, it's just not as lopsided as it was with Mendes or Aldo. He broke Mende's holds with the ease of a man pulling off a loose sweater. Even last night, he was able to power out of quite a few holds from a guy who's grappling is obviously levels above his own. But this time the size and strength was close enough for the difference in class to prevail in the end.

Looks like Connor threw the first punch right after Khabib jumped into the crowd. Everyone missed it.
Yeah, everyone from the commentators at ringside to the wirtters at ESPN & Bloody Elbow seemed ready to roll with a pro-McGregor spin right form the start. They made it seem like McGregor was just listing vulnerably trying to recover from the choke wehn he was attacked for no reason, when in fact he was trying to get involved in the brawl from the start.

Although an amazing figher, Conor has and is a loudmouth hooligan thrash and his tactics and loud mouth finally caught up to him. He says a lot of racially and ethnically charged words to his opponents and it's clear Khabib didn't like it or would stand for it. Dana should have punished Conor a long time ago for his antics to set a precedent but he didn't so now he's gotta deal with this and NSAC.
Even last night pre fight at the weigh inns Conor hit Khabib's hand and even attempted at kicking him. Although this antics gets ratings but it stays with some fighters (hence Khabib) and they'll take it out on someone. Dana should have stopped this antics a long time ago.

Dana and the UFC knew something like this was bound to happen when the UFC didn't punish Conor for the bus incident, and it left a bad taste with some fighters. Khabib definitely didn't like it and throw in the racially and thenically charged words there shouldn't be a surprise this happened. Khabib wanted to beat Conor's ass at the face off but his coaches did a great job of calming him down and getting him to direct his rage and anger into the fight. Hats off to his staff and Khabib.

Although Khabib jumped out of the octagon, the video shows the mayhem in the octagon was caused by Conor while he was on the cage he throw the first punch and people defended themselves.
If the NSAC does suspend Khabib which I think they probably will they should and I think will suspend Conor for throwing the first punch against someone other than his opponent.

Yeah, from that angle it definitely seems like Conor was trying to get into it. Not super surprising. Probably why he refused to press charges.

I think anyone who knows MMA knew Khabib was the heavy favorite. Granted, the Mendes fight was years ago and Conor was supposedly injured, but Khabib is a true master grappler. I don’t care how hard you train, who you bring in, you’re not going to catch up to a guy like Khabib in just a few years. The fight was always gonna go bad for Conor if it hit the ground, and it was always going to hit the ground. My thoughts going in were basically that Conor had to connect and finish early, or he lost. That was his only shot. I figured even if Khabib got tired, Conor would get tired too and not have the power to put Khabib away past round 2. Conor is a very good fighter, but his ground game and his cardio have always been his weak points. Khabib was a nightmare matchup for him.

The only thing that really gave me any pause was that Khabib didn’t look that impressive against Al Iaquinta. He won pretty easily, but he wasn’t anywhere near as dominant as in the past. I’d thought it was possible that all the injuries and time off had maybe diminished him a bit. I thought maybe that might have brought him down to a level where Conor would be able to deal with him. Guess not. Khabib is going to be a very tough guy to beat. He may retire on top.

Conor is the greatest shit talker and salesman in combat sports of this generation, maybe of all time, but he is unable back it up. Khabib made him pay, and Allah was witness.

I think mcg needs a couple more fights to sharpen up, maybe a tomato can and then a contender, and then a rematch around the same time next year. He's also wealthy and has a family and business interests also.

You could tell he wasn't sharp.

Slowing down is what happens when you eat a bunch of body shots. Conor went heavy with the punches & front kicks to the body in round 3 and Khabib had no defence for them, he kept walking straight into them and eating them full force. Body work is criminally underused in MMA where everyone wants the highlight reel KO, but there are a few guys like Max Holloway for instance who just melt their opponents with body shots and a high pace.

Would like to see Conor comeback to boxing and fight Paulie Malignaggi. He's a circus act so might as well cash out.

Once you lose like that in MMA, you usually never regain your greatness.
