Apparently there is a City councilman (John Filion) who is trying to get these shut down. Not sure what bylaw they would be violating - is it illegal for an adult to play with dolls while naked?

Anyway, hearing about Filion - made me think that this might be another way for the industry to develop in a quasi legal way. Eg: What if the business offered not just a doll, but a live personal attendant (there to help move the doll around... cough , cough...) Would this be legal? i.e. Paid, adult playtime with dolls and a live "doll master".

Anyway, sex dolls/robots have no attraction for me until they are as good as WestWorld or Ex-Machina (LOL).

yes sex dolls are an outrage yet publicly funded locations to inject drugs is all fine. At least this doll location won't mean needles laying around the neighbourhood like the injection sites do.

Are some parts detachable and single use only, are other parts autoclavable? Are virtual reality head sets used and if so how are they disinfected? Does Public Health perform inspections or set infection control standards? Is take out or rental available? Is condom use mandatory?
Considering the fact that guys will pay for BBFS, you can bet lots of guys won't wear condoms, which has an extremely high ewwww factor.

And there's probably someone making minimum wage who's job it is to clean them between sessions. Now there's a subject for an episode of Mike Rowe's Dirty Jobs!

It's pretty funny that for all the people who say, "Sex dolls? That's fucking pathetic!", there are no fewer than THREE active threads on TERB right now about sex doll brothels.

Things that make ya go, hmmm...

EDIT: FOUR active threads! lol

Mississauga, GTA, Ontario.
I read about this brothel on the internet and I’m honestly pretty shocked.

I’m surprised the city is allowing this type of place to open.

I know the law basically protects sex workers etc. But I didn’t think an actual brothel would open?

I wonder if it’s like the bunny ranch.. does a gentlemen just walk in and pick which lady he wants to see?

Or is it more like a club atmosphere?

Here is the website for the one opening up in Toronto. https://www.auradolls.com
Here are their rates.
Time 1 Doll 2 Dolls
1/2 Hour $80 $160
1 Hour $120 $240
2 Hours $240 $480
3 Hours $360 $720
4 Hours $480 $960

I’ll stick with my favourite SP’s, it seems like better value and some better conversation between rounds. I wonder who the first person will be to review one of the dolls on Terb and does that mean that there will soon be a new section on Terb for Sex Dolls.

I am wondering how the brothel will protect their investment. Let's say a customer beats their doll so bad that the damage cannot be repaired?

On a different note, this may also be a viable solution for pedophiles. Let them knock themselves out by fucking a doll that looks like a minor rather than ruining a poor child's life!!! Wondering if the business will evolve this way...

What about inadvertent damage? Wear and tear is bound to happen. What about guys with really big dicks? Are they gonna rip those holes open? It also seems like they only have 6 dolls. I’d imagine the sanitation process after use takes time. Do they have multiple copies of the same doll? What happens if a large group comes in all at once? There are a lot of unanswered logistics questions here.

Well that’s fantastic. I guess Toronto is supposed to be the “no fun allowed” city. Can we get rid of the council already? I don’t think they’ve ever done anything that wasn’t pants on head retarded or just generally terrible.

"In addition, Filion said the same plaza currently hosts two other illegal businesses — a pot dispensary and an illegal massage parlour — which he hopes the building owner will get rid of."

Fillion doesn't appear to be concerned with the two other "illegal" businesses in the building (that have been operating there for quite some time) only that he hopes the building owner gets rid of them. What an asshat. I hope he's one of the Councillors that loses his job.

Can’t see cameras being allowed. There’s nothing to prevent a Starbucks customer from destroying a washroom or having sex with someone and city councillors wouldn’t care if they did.

Not sure why they chose to call it a "brothel" unless they were purposely trying to get attention and get their names in the news with guaranteed controversy and coverage. My spidey sense tells me that this was all a marketing ploy to sell the dolls to consumers. Otherwise, the proprietors would have been a little more clever and discreet in their naming conventions. Eg: Come up with a name like "Adult Doll Playhouse" or "Silicone Fantasies" or some completely ridiculous name that would become a code for this type of business. Not "brothel" which results in attention and NIMBY-ism.

Anyway, I guess a new business opportunity will be a doll delivery service - like UberEats, or Skip the Dishes except for sex dolls. Or co-brand with eg: A Pizza delivery company: Outcalls in 30 minutes or free. The trick will be the discreet packaging to get it into the house without nosy neighbours asking questions. Maybe body bags?

I don't know if you read the article, but before they were shut down yes they mentioned cameras but not where. It would be nice if people read before just making assumptions about who's wrong.

https://www.vice.com/en_ca/article/kzyvee/everything-we-know-about-torontos-new-sex-doll-brothel

"There will be no staff interactions, in order to promote a private environment

For optimal privacy, the Aura Dolls location will have no staff interactions—just a camera. Cash payment for the dolls will be left on a desk at the beginning, and the user will be led into a room, where their doll will be waiting for them. Customers even have the ability to call ahead of time and request how the dolls should be dressed or displayed. “We operate similar to a brothel where guests come in, they have their own room. We have a TV monitor that plays adult entertainment and a doll … will be ready and waiting for you in your room,” Lee told CityNews. The brothel will also have a private entrance at the back and a buzzer system to exit through another door, so that people won’t have to worry about bumping into one another on their way in and out. “They’ll probably not bump into a single person,” said Lee. After customers leave, a staff member comes out to count and collect the cash and clean the dolls."

Your comparison doesn't make any sense. Starbucks isn't selling a bathroom and customers don't generally go there only to interact with the bathroom. I was talking about from the owner/investor standpoint of marketing to men who may want to commit violent/criminal acts against the dolls because they can't do so to real women, in which case some may want to have a weapon, ropes etc. Also any punk can afford $80 and come in as a joke as well. I don't know how often they'd want to call police or anything about someone stiffing them or damaging the dolls (their property) for instance, or if the clients actually are filmed in the room with the dolls who would want to be on camera?

These are concerns if they find another location to open in. They've received a lot of press so I imagine more than their target market has heard about this.
The police and politicians shouldn’t be concerned about if this is a smart business plan, if the dolls will be damaged while being used or if attendants will be there to take money. They aren’t the reasons the business is being scrutinized.
It’s for moral reasons. We should ask ourselves if fucking a doll is immoral. Is masturbating wrong?

I’d agree it is mostly just nosy assholes being outraged for no reason. I would argue, though, that their sanitation process should be the government’s concern. Could be a potential health hazard if the dolls aren’t being sanitized properly between uses. I mean, again, they seem to only have 6 dolls. Logically, that means their sanitation process has to be very fast, otherwise they risk creating a backlog of customers. You have to question how thorough their process is.

I don’t see why people would have problems with this kind of business otherwise. I mean, it’s not hurting anyone, presumably they’d be discreet, I don’t see how it would affect any of the other nearby businesses in any appreciable way. I really don’t get why people feel the need to be so fucking nosy. Worry about yourself, don’t worry about what other people do.
