Gay Pride attendance down

Could be the weather, or could be nobody cares anymore (or a combination of both).

FTR I have nothing against gays, I just find having a parade to celebrate your sexuality is a bit absurd.
Shouldnt serial masturbators also not get a parade??

They should make all sex workers officially part of the parade, and then I wouldnt mind going. Give them their own floats and stuff too

Maybe attendance was down, but vendor participation was way up! Way to crowed for me, peddlers peddling thier food or stuff or whatever. And the public drinking in the streets just means the drunks are more noticeable. Maybe that’s a pride thing too, be Proud while being a drunk asshole! Maybe they should have thier own float for the drunks next year. They could have one fall off and get run over every now and then.

The parade used to be really fun. I made a point of coming to Toronto 6 or 7 years in a row to stay for the weekend. The (then) Delta Chelsea was parade central, and the people-watching was a slice of life. The elevator rides alone were an adventure.

Then it became about making a political rather than a social statement. Reasons were found to create controversy. The level of nastiness increased tenfold. A pity.

Its primarily because gay culture now has the heavy grip and influence on culture, government, religion and business. They and their supporters know this hence the diminishing need for public events such as this one. It goes beyond the necessary acceptance that they needed and its to the point of it being forced upon the general public.

Me and my family haven't been since the police were banned from the parade. I'm sure the weather isn't helping either.

I wouldn’t completely say so, maybe for those not in the LGBT community. I for one didn’t go out today because it’s cold, and don’t want to be rained on. But either way the village is definitely not lacking participants

It will probably only get worse, demographically. Most younger Gay people I know don't even acknowledge the label, and don't feel any real struggle for social acceptance. This is especially true of Gay and Bi women who seemed to almost outnumber the men when I walked through the Village party yesterday.

There is a straight parade, it is called the Santa Claus (not Christmas) Parade.

Sorry to hear that your queerness is political, mine is not. I do not need an agenda to tell me how I am supposed to feel or think or justify my sexuality. I am who I am and that is the way it is. I owe nothing to anyone and do not need to take sides.

Why would you knowingly go to a country that you might get killed in.

im sure a lot of people don’t consider Somalia a vacation spot of choice. Better yet go to place which there is an Ebola outbreak.

Been to a couple, and they were great fun. But the politics, and banning the police turned me away.

Only must attend event for me these days is the Ribfest in Mississauga....and Oakville....and Burlington..lol

oh a potential might see badkat in the wild opportunity - lol.

Ribfests are overrated.
