So I'm thinking of going south for a week in late December. Looking for a good hobby destination. My initial scouting says Sosua DR or San Jose Costa Rica may fit the bill. The only thing about San Jose is that it's inland and not near a beach. Some of the seaside resorts look very nice but may not be great for hobbying. St Martin had some good reviews but me thinks the hurricanes a few months ago have really messed things up. Does anyone have any experiences in the Dominican Republic and or Costa Rica or any other potential pooning destinations ? I will say that years ago , I mistakenly ended up at a bonfide whorehouse called Rebecca's just outside Acapulco. The dudes working that place were hard core and scary and my buddy and I had a quick beer and left . Not sure about any other Mexico destinations.

I've been to Sosua and had a good time but would suggest that you split your time there between Sosua itself as well as Blackbeard's resort which is self contained with girls already on site at set prices (as well as an onsite mamasan to control any issues). I've also been to Costa Rica in San Jose and that country has sort of lost its position as a prime spot due to pricing compared to Dominican. But there is mongering in Jaco Beach on the west coast in Costa Rica but again, at inflated prices.
I've done mongering in Mexico only in Tijuana. Although prices are good there, it's not a place you want to spend your entire vacation in. I've also done St Maarten and it's okay but as you mentioned, it needs major repairs from the hurricanes.
Another location I did as a stop over which also has mongering is San Salvador in El Salvador. Prices were quite reasonable there too.

Done my share of hobbying around the world. Asia or here in north america is the only places worth it. Im factoring in service, safety and most importantly price. Some might agree others might not, this is just based on my own personal experiance.
I’ve always been curious how does one find out the safe way to hobby overseas? They must have their own versions of terb or does one risk walking the streets?
Providenciales in the Turks & Caicos has a number of local DR bars. Lots of escort activity there.

Forgive my ignorance but how does one keep from just getting outright robbed in a foreign country looking for this kind of fun? I feel like I would be an easy target and completely unaware of where to go, what areas to avoid and just open to being exploited (the irony of which is not lost on me). Especially since I like to travel alone.
I tried this once 12 years ago....its really dangerous, best go to a resort with ladies, so much better.
Do your research on forums such as the one cited in the post above, talk with other folks once you determine what areas the activities occur, and keep your wits about you at all times and never get too drunk or take any drugs. I am probably a bit too careful and will go so far as to always watch my drink, not have a drink when I back in the room with the girl, and I always keep a dummy wallet with expired credit cards and some cash in case someone does want to rob me. I have travelled solo to Costa Rica and other countries and never had any issues at all. Last piece of advice, if something seems to be a bit awkward or you are not comfortable with it, walk away.
Always leave the money in the hotel. Just take what is required for that day. $100 maybe. That's what I did. There is lockers available in your hotel room. Lock it up
Tried hobbying in Havana once, not easy. That was about 5 or 6 years ago. Girls are scared in public, if the police pick them up they are toast.

People say go to Blackbeards then Sosua, you will kick yourself for the time in BB. Whatever your comfort level is though. Blackbeards is a controlled environment at a reasonable rate compared to other providers of the same service, very isolated with not much around it though. Never felt unsafe in Sosua, but always take precautions with your stuff, stuff can disappear magically otherwise.

Try Holguin, girls line up there and its cheap. I frequent Cienfuegos now. I made local friends now. Its easy to find chicas. I am travelling again in End of Jan or Early Feb.
So what are we talking about price wise in houlgin. How is the scene there, do they come to you, you go to them, do you pay to date them or are there mostly street and bar pickups ? Where is the best place to stay? How to het in touch with people that rent accomodations there so someone can plan accordingly ?
