Bounty Hunters Killed in Violent Texas Shootout

Two private sector bounty hunters in Texas, trying to arrest a fugitive from Minnesota, have been killed in a violent shootout at a car dealership.
About 20 shots were fired in 6 seconds leaving the fugitive and both bounty hunters dead.

Numerous law enforcement officials have criticized the reckless tactics used by the bounty hunters to confront and arrest the violent fugitive.

However, let us remember to place the blame firmly where is is due with Ramon Hutchinson.

If he hadn't failed to appear in court thereby violating his bail, and if he had surrendered peacefully none of this would have occurred!

A person at the car dealership filmed confrontation with their cell phone.
All three subjects suffered multiple gunshot injuries and died in the car dealership office.

Against who? The bounty hunters are dead.

Couple of amateur yahoo's in an unregulated quasi law enforcement role who pretty much did everything wrong. Thankfully only the gun weilding idiots were killed this time.

I'm betting they were self employed. I doubt the bail bondsman can be held responsible for their actions.

Maybe those bounty hunters were assembly line workers at an auto plant that closed down 5 years ago and circumstances got them into the bounty hunting racket eventually.

I read they knew the armed drug dealer they were hunting would show up at that car dealership that day and they were waiting 4 hours for him to show up.
I guess in order to get their commission they had to take him down and that's why they did'nt share their intel with local law enforcement.

It's interesting that the retired cop said when a guy pulls out a gun you should move away to create space because that gives you more control over the situation rather than try to get into a wrestling match.

The U.S. Supreme Court case Taylor v. Taintor, 83 U.S. 366 (1872) is the umbrella for bail enforcement (Bounty Hunting) in the U.S. e.g. if another party has posted bail for you, basically they own you if you fail to appear in court and they are out their money until they turn you over to the court.

Six states: Illinois, Maine, Kentucky, Nebraska, Oregon, and Wisconsin, have abolished commercial bail bonds with Bail Officers being officers of the Court rather than Bail Agent independent contractors. There if you fail to appear they just plain issue arrest warrants.

Four other states: Connecticut, Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, as well as Washington, D.C. have their own state regulations regulating bail enforcement.

You are right of course, but my post was just a statement in general.
US is never gonna win this. They should just decriminalize all drugs and be done with it
(works very well in Portugal and NL)

Doesn't change the fact that the bail bondsmen were utter and complete idiots who risks the lives of everybody in that dealership. On that day, they acting like violent no good men along with the loser con.
