First unless the Gillman's suffered serious injury not mentioned in the article there is absolutely no way they are recovering four million dollars. Second, any bets on that the Gillman's had been drinking at the game. Further agree with Nottyboi's comment above.

It is the old sue for a bundle, but I will go away and not be a nuisance for a lesser amount trick. The TTC has lawyers on staff that are waiting for this sort of thing to pop up, they can wait a long time. ( at public expense )

I'm not sure what happened here from the video. What powers to TTC officers have? Maybe they approached those two and told them to behave and then those two retaliated? I dunno. Were they trying to arrest or handcuff these two?

The 2 fare jumped
When placed under arrest the father resisted and the son threw the first punch

The TTC cop did retaliate & probably a bit aggressive but son was in the wrong first

How can anybody watch that and conclude that the officers were in the wrong?

Drunk idiots would not comply.

When a cop says you're under arrest, turn around, let him handcuff you, and take it from there. Don't resist.

The general public is dumb. They expect an officer to spend two hours asking nicely for somebody to comply with simple demands and scream at officers accusing them of excessive force.

Anyone who looks at the video can see the big burly TTC cop was just losing it ... drilling the younger guy with a flurry of punches to the head ( against a concrete wall) while others are holding him. It was totally unnecessary and it is clear the lug was experiencing some serious rage issues. At least now, maybe they ( and we) will find out why they were being hassled in the first place.

Fair jumping, resisting arrest, and punching an officer.

Maybe dad could buy son some sparring lessons with the money! Got into it with a off duty cop up north at a bar when the bouncer asked a bunch of us to leave & we laughed at him. This guy sitting at the bar pulled out his badge & said hit the road & I asked if he was under cover or off duty & he said don't matter your outta here. I said when i'm finished my drink i'll gladly be on my way & went to grab it. Mother fukker grabbed my drink & poured it out! So I grabbed his & that led to a push & shove & the prick suckered me. I got up shook it off & said fuk it & cracked him in the side of the head & gave him a few more for good measure. Holy cow did that get four police cars to show up in a hurry! Long story short the bartender who witnessed it first hand spoke to the sergeant that arrived & while they cuffed me explained that the cop didn't say I was under arrest & clearly suckered me backed up by two other witnesses. Off come the cuffs & a big shit eatin grin on SB's face & the sergeant asking me if I want to press charges or just leave this alone. Told him I didn't want to tie up the courts time with a bar fight & he shook my hand thanked me & asked us to finish our drinks & leave

You know this? Then you should tell the victims and their lawyer, who claim not to know why they were arrested. So... a 64 year old man who can afford Leaf tickets is sneaking into the subway??????

When you sue for $4 million, you claim to not know lots of things including your own guilt. Tell me you weren't born yesterday.

There is TTC security video that shows how this really started. The father apparently bumped into (brushed) one of the pseudo cops, apologized for doing so, while going to catch the train. Pseudo cop took exception and thought that this guy needs to learn a lesson. The son's excuse for starting to throw down is because pf the treatment that his father was getting. If I had a few in me, I might make an irrational judgement call and do the same with these pseudo cops. When one looks at this from the start, you see a whole other picture and then the cell phone video appears different, it shows two TTC pseudo cops on a power trip, having escalated something from nothing, to a very serious situation.
