I have always had an issue with using terms of endearment flippantly or for any other person than a SO and here is why.
I have a great regular that truly loves his wife and is still immensely attracted to her who is hopeful that with time whatever she is going through will pass. He has spoken to older male friends about their experiences and for their advice. In the meantime he occasionally scratches the itch elsewhere as respectfully as possible.
Some time ago he approached a young lady and got a vibe about her so never followed up. She, wondering why and in an attempt to garner his patronage very unwisely randomly texted him, " Hi hun it's _ _ _ _ _ _". Given the time of day it normally wouldn't have presented a problem but he just so happened to have left work early to go on a trip with his wife. He was driving and not expecting anything so senseless agreed to his wife reading the text. It ended up being the worst trip of their married life and even though I helped him with damage control, things are still going down hill for them.
Although not done maliciously, this younger lady's utter carelessness has needlessly hurt his wife, possibly damaged his marriage beyond repair as his wife now distrusts him so much that she randomly calls to video chat with him and although I haven't completely lost him as a client, due to his situation I rarely see him now which has ever so slightly negatively impacted my business. I wouldn't mind it so much if it was due to the happier circumstance of he and his wife resuming their sex life; a joyful occasion.
Ladies, discretion is the cornerstone of our business. Let common sense prevail when contacting clients, prospective or otherwise. Please remember that our actions have far reaching consequences!
