Origionally a fishing ship off the Grand Banks of Newfoundland and later carrying cargo to and from the Caribbean islands.

Schooners were sleek ships designed to travel quickly so that they could deliver catches and cargo to port quickly. Some goods such as tea was so profitable that a quick delivery and return to get more goods did not allow the ship to stay in port for more than a day or two.

In hopes that an enemy that was injured but not killed would become infected.

There were not that many soldiers walking around in the dessert in WWII, indeed shit driven into human flesh would cause infections especially in the heat but that was not the reason British troops placed camel shit on their land mines. The Germans were in the habit if running over came shit for good luck, the British troops would notice tire and tank tracks on the shit, so they place camel shit on the mines to attract German vehicles
