Hello Terbies :)

I'm curious:

- How many of you are Leaf's fans?
- How many of you in Toronto are Habs fans?
- How many of you prefer another team?

Being from Montreal, my true colors are blue, red and white! :thumb:

Cheers xox

This is not really a time for guys to admit that they are in fact Leaf fans, but I am a diehard.

BTW, no offense but any girl that wears a bleu, blanc et rouge is immediately crossed off my TDL.

No shame in admitting it ;)
Thanks for sharing.

That's entirely your prerogative and no offense is taken.

Usually, when I spend time with a gentleman, my bleu, blanc rouge t-shirt comes off, and, in the end, we end up cheering for the same team... A team that has nothing to do with hockey, and we both win :)

Toronto is the centre of the hockey world but we have only one professional team ! I was a Leaf fan but I would love a second team that we can rally around and actually attend a game. Toronto could support two teams and I'm guessing it would give an incentive for the Leaf management to earn field a decent team instead of just relying on the faithful to keep filling the seats.

This statement is only a perception that (some) people from Toronto have.
I'm sure the diehard fans in most of the original six cities would all claim the same.

I seem to recall a poll that was done not that long ago that asked Canadians all across the country which team was Canada's team.
Anyone else remember what the results of that poll were?

It was easy enough to find.

Neither a Leaf or a Habs fan. There is no doubt that Toronto is the center of the hockey world. That poll should include the fact that every French Canadian automatically answers "Habs", even if they don't follow hockey.

There are plenty of times when Leaf or Bruin fans are the loudest people at Montreal home games.

I am a Leafs fan but a hockey lover in general. I had various favourite teams growing up depending upon who the star players were. I liked Boston because of Bobby Orr, Montreal because of Jacques Plante etc. but now cheer solely for the Leafs. I know, they haven't been much to cheer for but it is what it is. He're hoping this is a true rebuild and that they have good scouting.

Further to "Canada's Team" I think you'd find TML would beat the Canadiens hands down if they were playing as well as them. All you have to do is look at the number of Leafs jerseys in the crowd any time they play a team on the road in Canada or the US for that matter.

Fans in Chicago, Boston, Detroit and New York will concede that Toronto is the centre of the hockey world. Where else would a team continue to get fan support while continually producing such a poor produc?

Fans in Montreal also know this fact but would never admit to it. Montreal is the greatest hockey team in history, but Toronto is the greatest hockey city.

Leafs fan thru and thru, born and raised, dyed in the wool...it wasn't that long ago when Oleg Petrov was the Habs "best" player, or that long ago when their coach was fired during an intermission....The Leafs have been on an extended run of futility, which should last a couple more years (but probably longer) but if in the end they ACTUALLY build (not buy, or trade kids for) a team then there just might be a future here....In the meantime I'll wish the Habs luck, and cheer for EVERY OTHER TEAM to beat them ;)

This is why I think the Leafs fans are the best fans in the world... they still have hope! :)

The Leafs as an organization are hopeless, and are happy to lose as long as they keep making money. It is a great business, and a lousy team.

Put a team in Toronto and in ~ 10 years when a Stanley Cup is finally hoisted over a Toronto jersey (that isn't Maple Leafs) then ask the same question. I was a fan since the big M, Keon, the last Stanley Cup in Toronto and I'd support a new Toronto team. I think there would be a lot of Toronto fans just like me. How can the best hockey city possibly sit back as losers for almost 50 years ? Toronto deserves the cup and these fat rich bastards running the Leafs really don't care - yet.

How can people be so negative? Gotta make allowances. Realise the Leafs are going through a re-building phase.

Currently, we're in the 47th year of the re-building phase.

Haha lol Love it!
That's the spirit of a true Leafs fan!
I have lots of friends that are Habs fans, I'd have to leave the country if they win La Coupe Stanley, but honestly with Carey Price in net they have a realistic shot...unless Kris Kreider forgets how to hockey again.
