My favourite of Nimoy's appearances.

Also, let's not forget he had a part in an episode of Get Smart. The one where Max had to infiltrate a pool hall to discover Kaos' high tech communications unit. (The old code receiver inside the pool table trick).

The world is now a slightly less logical place.

Btw when he found out Shatner tweeted - "I lost a Brother"

As Spock would have put it. Live long and prosper. I always enjoyed his Character as Spock. On that note!\

Leonard Nimoy never bought into The Great Shat's rigorous lifestyle. Even though he played a dour Vulcan, in life he lived a much easier lifestyle and didn't really tend to his health. He made it to 83 years, more power to him. Incidentally both got their start in TV with The Twilight Zone. Nimoy is the better actor but The Great Shat has Judgement at Nuremburg and The Brothers Karamazov in his body of work.
Oh come now. I know it's rude to speak ill of the dead but Nimoy was almost as much of a ham as Shatner. He was no "great actor". Doesn't mean he wasn't great at the one iconic role we all remember him for but still, let's not get all misty and clouded judgement-like here. A good character actor, who had one fantastically iconic role, and a pretty cool guy. He will be missed even if he wasn't Olivier.

Oddly enough, hearing this item made me sad for Shatner. It's obvious that Nimoy was well-liked by everyone that knew him.Today we've had sound bites from former colleagues (like George Takei) bidding farewell to a beloved friend. When poor old Bill shuffles off this mortal coil, it ain't gonna be all that much or all that heartfelt.

I tend to agree with you, Maybe he was only thinking of his own mortality.

Shatner's Twilight Zone episode when he sees a gremlin on the wing of a passenger jet in flight is a classic but I can't remember Nimoy's episode.
The Great Shat had two episodes: The fortune cards in season 2 and the classic gremlins. Nimoy was in season 3, the WW II episode about Okinawa and the attack on trapped Japanese in a cave.

BTW: I agree with McCoy, Spock looked much better with a beard.

I can't remember Nimoy's episode in the TZ but I DO remember his episode in The Outer Limits, called I, Robot (perhaps the inspiration for the movie with Will Smith).

Insidious Von didn't say that Nimoy was a great actor per se, but that he was a better actor than Shatner, and I agree with him. (I believe though that Shatner also acted in Shakespearean plays at Stratford in his earlier years).

Who knows how much of that is actually true, sure The Great Shat has an ego but he's always had a cheesy charisma about him. Nimoy was more laid back, but I agree, he lived very well off Spocko. I wish I had seen TGS at Strattford. I was lucky enough to see Coriolanus with John Vernon in the title role. Fabulous Canadian actor who, these days, is only remembered for this:

Rare appearance on the Merv Griffin show. 1982.
He was more natural and laid back than Shatner

That sucks.

Funny thing is that I'm not a Star Trek fan, nor cared about Nimoy's career in any way. But some reason this celebrity death makes me kind of sad. I guess I liked what he did more than I thought.

NASA Astronaut Terry Virts took this from the ISS (note Boston, Leonard Nimoy's birthplace to the right of his hand and above Cape Cod)
