True. It was white washed to cover scorching after the British burned Washington, D.C. during the War of 1812.

In the War of 1812 the folks in Canada ( British ) went down to the capitol of the United States and burned the official residence and principal workplace of the President of the United States.

My Gawd man!!!! Do you even bother to do any research on these questions that you ask? While this is a fun and hugely popular thread, the number of mistakes in your answers is remarkable. I have noticed at least five mistakes this week alone and that is only from the questions where I was absolutely sure of the answer and usually just assume that your answers are correct.

While it is in fact true that the White House was painted white after British troops set it ablaze in 1814, the president's official residence since 1800 had been originally built using white coloured sandstone.

My last post explaining your error was met with an expected comment of derision so I expect the same from you this time too as you really dislike being told that you are wrong about anything.

Don't know about waloon.

A Walloon is a person from Wallonia, in Belgium.

Belgium overtook Britain as the most industrialized nation in late 19th cent, mainly because of innovative new steel production centred in the Meuse valley, which is heart of Wallonia.

The Swedish tax man would not allow clothing that had any possibility to be worn on the street to be tax deductible, so the group spent 25 times that cost to produce individual costumes for stage use.
